Cannot move Widgets in IE or Firefox
-
When I try to move a widget into place, the cursor changes appropriately, but I cannot drag the widgets anywhere. Instead, I just end up selecting text. I’ve tried dragging them top the left, to the right, up and down…
I always work in Firefox (version 1.5.0.11) which is the latest. That failed, so I tried my old IE, version 6.0.2900.2180, but only found the same problem. Java/javscript are both on.
I went to use the feedback link described as
“Use the feedback link in the upper right corner.”
…but could find no feedback link in the upper right corner.
Please advise.

Clear both browser’s file cache and try again. I have a feeling that the AJAX scripts that run both scripts are clashing in some manner.
Considering that there are a number of threads already on a possible widget issue, it may be something on wordpress’ side though.
Also do note that 1.5.0.11 is not the latest version of Firefox. The latest public version is 2.0.0.3. 1.5.0.11 was a while ago. Thanks though for actually listing the version number and not leaving it as “the latest version”. I wish more folks around here would do that. :)

Hmmm… My Firefox kept insisting it was the most current… ends up you were right, so I upgraded to 2.0.0.3…
However….
Still having the same problem. I flush all of my caches when I quit Firefox. So I quit, flushed the caches, and then restarted and went straight to WordPress.com and tried again. No luck. Same problem.
I’m having no problems on any other sites, for what that’s worth.

That is strange. I’d raise the issue with staff via feedback and see if they have any ideas.
I’m leaning towards something on your end I’m afraid else these forums would be filled with folks complaining.

Just a few days ago the forums had several complaints about various issues with widgets but most of us, although having sort of similiar issues with widgets, are having variances which make each issue somehow different. I sent feedback my issue with widgets a few days ago (after reading all the forum posts on same) and still haven’t heard back from them, nor has the issue been fixed or resolved in any way. =
Keep us posted – err, yeh. =p

@intiuitivesilence
You have not actually stated what your problem with widgets is. As the other bloggers widget issues seem to have been resolved I would suggest that you try the fix stated in this thread: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=10532Please do this:
– go to your Presentation page
– click Sidebar widgets
– rearrange them
– Save them
– on your blog reload by pressing:
ctrl+f5 (Windows)
apple+r (Mac)
f5 (Linux)If this doesn’t work then send another feedback to staff carefully describing the problem you are having.

The widgets are immobile for me as well at http://runningthroughrain.wordpress.com and raincoaster.com (both WP.com blogs), and have been for a half hour or so. I can’t click on a particular widget: I try to select it and the ones BENEATH that one are highlighted, but I can’t move anything. I’ve cleared the cache and done a forced reload as well, to no effect.
Things were working fine at that blog two hours ago, though. I’m using IE6 on Windows 98 with AVG virus software.

There were some incorrect settings for both of your blogs. Those have been resolved and the drag and drop widgets are now working.

JosephScott,
Can you tell me what the issue is, or look at my blog (cfkid.wordpress.com)? I am having the same issue with my widgets, which is frustrating me as a computer geek. Thanks!
-
Best bet would be to send in a feedback Monday morning. That way you can be sure someone sees your request.

cfkid –
I’ve fixed yours as well. I’m not sure what is causing yet. Sending in a feedback is the best way to get things like this addressed.

I have the same problem. I do not know what can be wrong in my blogs configurations (http://www.strasbourg-2013.eu/fr/ and http://www.strasbourg-2013.eu/de/)
because it was working on Friday… What could have changed during the week-end ? Would you be able to fix it please ?Thanks !!!

Those aren’t wp.com blogs. Staff can’t help you.
You need to be asking at http://wordpress.org/support/
