cannot pay for my contract / domain transfer in france – wordpress.com

  I am moving my website to wordpress.com. I have my domain transfer code. My previous host has taken my page down and I need to get it back up ASAP. I want to pay for a year’s contract and domain transfer. My Visa debt card (French bank – “carte bleu”) is repeatedly refused. I then created a PayPal France account. When I click “accept and pay” in PayPal it redirects me back to the wordpress payement page. Impossible to pay, my domain transfer is incomplete and I am totally stuck.

  Hi there:

  There’s two things at play here:

  1. Your WordPress website.
  2. Your domain name.

  Transferring your domain to us does NOT transfer your website to us – that’s an entirely separate process. If your current hosting provider has taken your site down before you made an export and imported it to your new site here, you need to have them restore your site as soon as possible.

  You can get your site set up here before moving your domain over. When you sign up for a new site, we give you a free subdomain (*.wordpress.com) that you can use to start building your new site.

  Note that you will need a paid plan at the time you want to map your domain to the site. You can compare the different plan levels here:

  Regarding the domain transfer, you don’t necessarily need to transfer it to use it here at WordPress.com – you can map the domain or transfer it.

  Mapping allows you to keep the domain registered with your current domain registrar and direct it to your WordPress.com site:

  A transfer would allow to manage both your site and domain from the same place:.

  My Visa debt card (French bank – “carte bleu”) is repeatedly refused.

  When you use that card, we receive a “transaction declined” from your bank. Likely they’re not familiar with the charges you’re attempting and are automatically blocking them as fraudulent. You should reach out to your bank to see why they’re declining the charge and ask them to allow it as it’s a valid transaction.
