Cannot Post Comment

Hi, I have a WP account, and up to 5 days ago I was able to (sometimes) post comments to a website I follow nftrh.com.
I am logged into WP on the site, I enter my comment, my info and photo show up, but the post never takes. The three times the posting comments worked I got a very short “Submitting Comment” text show up. Otherwise, a quarter second spinning wheel and nothing.
I have logged in and out. I have cleared cache and cookies. I have tried 2 different machines. I have tried 3 different browsers. At this point it is impossible to comment on the site, and the site owner does not know why (others can post).

That sounds like an odd issue. Ideally the site owner may wish to reach out via https://wordpress.com/help/contact to make sure everything is ok (which it most likely is if other people can post.)

The reason why I ask is because, it’s a long shot, but the easiest thing to rule out as adblockers can have adverse effects on websites.

Hi, I do have an ad blocker, but for this particular site it is disabled. I have also done in pristine versions of Edge and Brave (no plugins) with the same bad results. No VPN.
I have tried a few more times. His blog, if you can look at it, has “protected entries” where we get a password to read those.
When I post to open/free entries, it looks like it works. When I post to these protected entries, that’s where it fails, if that’s any clue.

I am sure you are on to something there. Have you ever had success posting comments on the site’s protected entries in particular? Wanting to verify if this has always been an issue with protected entries or just a recent issue.

I have been a subscriber for about three weeks to this site. The only comments that have worked have all been on public posts, so it is consistent. No protected posts have ever worked. Thanks.

Hi there,
I checked the owner’s account and your posts are all pending. His settings are set so that any new comment has to be manually approved. He will need to go to the Comments section from his dashboard and approve your posts.

The posts that were pending were multiples on a “public” blog entry, and those all got the “Submitting Comment” text from the website.
However, I also did multiple ones to a couple of his password protected entries, and those are the ones that just disappear, no Submitting note.
And he confirms the pending ones were only on the public blog posts.

Not exactly sure what your mean, they were all attempts at commenting in the normal way.

Sure, here is a protected post that I cannot successfully comment on. The current password is spx55.

Thanks for that. After taking a closer look, we’re at the limit of what we can troubleshoot from your end.
The blog owner will need to contact support to see why the comment form isn’t working on password-protected posts and one of our Happiness Engineers will need to look into their site install and plugins to make sure things are working properly. You can point him to this forums thread if he needs more information.
