Cannot reach member profile from avatar in comments, even my own
-
In the Avatars section of Discussion Settings (Settings > Discussion > Avatars), I have the following checked, “View people’s profiles when you mouse over their Gravatars.” The direction, “Put your mouse over your Gravatar to check out your profile,” appears beside my avatar. Applying this direction results in the display of what is apparently called a Gravatar Hovercard. The avatar expands, displays a brief excerpt of my WordPress profile site description, and a button titled “View Complete Profile.” I can reach my profile page with this button. Note also that my Hovercards are not turned off at Discussion Settings.

These Hovercards also display in my post and page comments, over comments made by either myself (blog administrator), or other WordPress members. However, these are not functioning properly. I don’t recall whether they ever worked correctly, but today I noticed the following two issues with them:
1. Hovering expands the avatar into the Hovercard, but it’s translucent, allowing text from the comment to show through.
2. The “View Complete Profile” button can not be used. The Hovercard rapidly retracts or shrinks back into a plain avatar as soon as you move toward the button. I tried at least 15 times, thinking that just maybe if I applied a sufficient combination of effort, diligence, willpower, trickery, deep understanding, mystical insight, and blazing speed, well I might eventually snatch that pebble out of the master’s hand. No dice. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It’s actually the Gravatar profile I referred to as a “member profile” in the leading question.
Here’s a link to my top post, page 1:
http://songbook1.wordpress.com/2013/03/25/songbook-site-index-2/I’m also curious about the connection between WordPress and Gravatar. I’ve just recently noticed that since September 2013 email messages I receive when someone becomes a follower of my blog contain links to their Gravatar Profiles. And yet the WordPress “My Public Profile” page is not viewable by the general public, nor by WP members.
I vaguely recall being told by a WP support person, possibly not staff as I may not have differentiated between staff and helpful member responders at the time, that any member could view a page containing a list of links to all of websites under my account. Is this correct? Actually, I don’t even know where to find a concise link list of my musicdoc1 sites. A few years ago I could find one in some foreign language (French and Italian versions I recall using) versions of the My Sites page.

When I logged in to those foreign language versions, if I recall correctly, it would go directly to that page with a list of links to my sites.

Not unless you add them to your gravatar profile page and you can do that here > Dashboard > Users > My Profile
http://songbook1.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.php?page=grofiles-editorI’m also curious about the connection between WordPress and Gravatar.
WordPress.com an Gravatar are together forever http://blog.gravatar.com/2013/04/03/gravatar-and-wordpress-com-together-forever/
They are both owned by Automattic Inc. -
With the exception of Francois Nicoullaud who has yet to register a gravatar, I can hover over the gravatar images of yourself and the commenter morganhowland here and see the Hovercards full text linked to the gravatar profile page.
I’m on Windows 7 and using FF 33, Chrome 38 and IE11.
Are you using an outdated browser version? Or are you running a browser and version of it found here? http://browsehappy.com

Oops! By “here” I meant the post you linke3d to above at http://songbook1.wordpress.com/2013/03/25/songbook-site-index-2/

Thanks timethief,
No, not using an outdated browser: FF 33.1.1.
I can see the link (button) to the Gravatar profile, but the Hovercard shrinks to a plain avatar (Gravatar) the moment I move toward the button. -
Thanks for the follow up. There seems to be a z-index issue with the hovercards. I’ve reported this to the theme developers and I’ll let you know when I hear back!
