Cannot reach support: We're sorry, but an unexpected error has occurred
-
Hello. I cannot reach support and get the error ” We’re sorry, but an unexpected error has occurred”. I installed the plugin cartpress and it locked me out of my admin panel and now I get the message “You don’t have any WordPress sites yet.” when I try to get to my dashboard. I have an inkling that I’m getting the ” We’re sorry, but an unexpected error has occurred” message when trying to access support because there is no longer a website associated with my account, when said website is active and exists. I need someone to disable cartpress and this should be fixed right away, but I cannot access the support center and there is no phone number to call wordpress. I now understand that people without coding experience should not be building websites under any circumstance. The support team has been patient, but I am discouraged from building another website on wordpress.com. Is anyone able to offer assistance of contacting support when the unexpected error arises?

this is happening to me as well. My site is up, but when I go to the dashboard, the entire column on the left is missing. I cannot add a blog, cannot access my older blogs, cannot see comments.
When I go to “help” I get the same “We’re sorry, but an unexpected error has occurred” message
Seems the only way to get help is to pay them to talk to me. Has anyone found a solution to this?

I called their parent company which was a recorded message that told me to email support@wordpress.com. I emailed them and am hoping to get a reply back. I’m not sure that paying them will work all that well either. Good luck! If I find out anything i will update you.

Hi timetheif – I did what you said: Please click this link https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1 create your own thread and include the URL of the site in question when you do that.
If you have any suggestions, that would be wonderful.

@immortalallurecosmetics
I apologize for the interruption. Please be patient while waiting for Staff assistance. -
This is what I got from the support email the parent company told me to call: You’ve reached an unmonitored email address (support@wordpress.com). We don’t reply to messages sent to this address; but, did you know you can get instant live chat support?
Except I can’t get instant live support because my pad website is not showing up as mine. As a paying business customer I find this level of support unacceptable. Had the support email address actually been monitored, i would not have this level of dissatisfaction as a paying wordpress customer.

I got through to a person by replying to my wordpress business receipt confirmation email, and a real live person linked my domain back up with my account. Thanks Chris! Now I have a 500 error, but at least I can contact the support live chat without getting the error. I am still highly unsatisfied that wordpress does not monitor support@wordpress.com even though they recommend it, and think an unmonitored email address impedes communication. Any client paying for a service should have access to clear communication, plain and simple.
If you 1. Have a paid plan and 2. Get an error at https://wordpress.com/help/contact, paired with a notice that you do not have a current website when you click on “my site” but have a working url that you paid for, then your only choice is to hit reply to your receipt email of your paid plan. Don’t email support@wordpress.com. Ever.

Hi there,
I called their parent company which was a recorded message that told me to email support@wordpress.com.
What number did you call? We don’t have any support phone number, and the support@ email address hasn’t been in use for almost two years. If anything is still referring to that address it should be updated.
Someone will reply to your ticket regarding the 500 error soon, or you can start a chat when you’re back online, but please let me know what number you called so we can look into that.

@Kokkieh Thanks for responding! I called the number listed on https://automattic.com/contact/ (877) 273-3049. I also called this phone number 877 273 8550 which is registered with the better business bureau. Both have the same two year old message concerning the support email loop. I left them both messages concerning their chosen methods of communication.
