Cannot recover account

  I deleted my account awhile ago, but I want to reactivate it. But using my previous activation key for the recovery page does not work and says its invalid.

  Hi, how long ago did you delete it? We can recover an account for 30 days. You’ll just need to reply to the deactivation email.

  It was longer than 30 days, but it still says my old blog and username are taken.

  If it has been more than 30 days, we’re no longer able to restore either your account or your site.

  The username and site address will still show as taken, because those don’t become available again – once you delete a username of a free WordPress.com address, that’s removed from our system permanently and no one can ever use the same username or address again.

  Well, that stinks. I deleted it out of embarrassment but wanted it back realizing what i could do and would like it under my names alias. But thank you.

  You can set a public display name, that people will see instead of your username. Public display names don’t have to be unique, so you can set one that’s the same as your old username:
