Cannot see list of users who liked a comment
-
Hello,
Regardless of what computer I use (desktop, laptop, Android tablet/phone, Mac), and regardless of what browser I use (tried IE, Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Opera), and regardless of the network that I’m on (tried different locations) I can never, ever see the list of people that clicked ‘like’ on a comment.
Basically as I hover or click the ‘n people liked this comment’ under the comment I get a pop-over/layover element that says ‘Loading’, but nothing ever loads.
At this point it would have to be related to my user – that’s the only think I can fathom. I cannot however try that because my user is signed up to a private WordPress blog that needs an invitation.
So can you tell me what could possibly cause this behavior on any computer, any browser from any network for my user? Or what setting I need to change?
Thank you very much!

In order to help that person they may need to must log in and post here. That`s because Staff need to know the specific computing environment details if what I provide below does not resolve the issue.
Please contact that person and ask them to work through the list that follows, log in, and report their details back here.
1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.

Ok, so from the list above:
1. Yes, the same behavior occurs under:
– Chrome 50.0.2661.94
– Firefox 46.0
– Opera 36.0.2130.652. n/a
3.
a) cache cleared – same problem
b) third-party cookies and Javascript enabled
c) no extensions running
d) same result over https, with worpress trusted4. Flash is the latest.
5. I used the above 3 – same exact result. From my desktop, laptop and work computer. Also from brand new Vmware virtual machine using Windows 10 using the above 3 browsers freshly installed.
6.
a) I have used Windows 7 and 10 for O/S on both a desktop (win 7 enterprise), a brand new laptop (win 10 pro), and a virtual machine (win 10 pro), Android tablet using Chrome mobile onceb) see browser versions above.
c) Basically, regardless of the computer, browser, physical location (home/work/coffee shop), and operating system (tried it on Android too) I cannot see the list of people that clicked “Like” on a comment. At this point I would guess that it has something to do with my user account.
d) See screenshot of the “Loading… ” message on mouse-over that never finishes: https://snag.gy/S3Xn7D.jpgLet me know what else I can provide for you to be able to get to the bottom of this.

Here is some source debugging identifying the line number in your JavaScript where things blow up:
Once “Loading…” is displayed on comment “likes” mouseover: https://snag.gy/rw0IRA.jpg
We get here: https://snag.gy/l2TdAu.jpg (see variable values on the side in peach background)
Then here: https://snag.gy/y79PKI.jpg
Then it blows up here because data == null and data.length is not a property when data is null: https://snag.gy/wTKEQW.jpg
Here’s the console reporting that exception: https://snag.gy/r1hJZt.jpg
-
It looks like the ajax POST gets made with the correct parameters but the callback function returns null for data.

This is the link to the AJAX POST call that returns null for the callback function: https://snag.gy/G3mDbB.jpg

Also I’m going to go ahead and pass this info to our developers, too. I’ll let you know when I hear back.
-
Great! No, it’s been like this for at least 6 months. I kept thinking it was the browser or the computer until I eliminated all other possibilities but the user. Felt like I was being paranoid, but it’s true in this case, LOL.

I’m not sure if the developers got back to you, but they fixed it days ago. So thank you!
-
Ah! Yes, I was away when it was solved. I meant to come and follow up with you, but that fell through the cracks as I was catching up on everything else. Thank you again for the detailed debugging information. That definitely helped!
