Cannot see posts in dashboard
-
I can no longer see posts in my dashboard, despite being able to see them on the actual site. I can only see the three pages that are there. I can see them in the dashboard on a different computer (a PC) but not the Mac I created them on. Could it be the Mac’s operating system is too old? I cannot run the latest version of Flash on it for instance. Also I recently changed my Blog’s Theme, but this allowed full view on the dashboard to begin with.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi. In order to assist you, we need the URL of your blog, starting with http:// please. Thanks.

This may be the blog > http://thebiomad.wordpress.com/@thebiomad
You can configure the Dashboard by showing/hiding, opening/closing, and moving modules. Go to screen options on the top right hand corner of your Admin page and be sure everything is configured properly. -

Hiya, thanks ever so much for replying. My blog’s web address is http://www.biomad.net, but I think the URL is http://biomadd.wordpress.com, does that sound right? Many thanks for trying to help. :-)

Guys, sorry about this, I have solved one problem. In March I changed my administration email address, for some reason it seemed to have reverted to an old address, I have rectified this now and can see all my posts. I have one more query, since changing Themes some of my older posts have text running across images with nothing to seemingly edit in the dashboard window. Is this something that can just happen when changing the theme on existing posts, and should new posts in that theme be ok?
-
No, that’s not supposed to happen. Can you give us a direct link to a post where that’s happening?
-
I’m shutting down, but will offer this as a likely solution.
This is most often caused by an open HTML tag in one of your posts.
Go to settings > writing and select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then click “save changes.”
Now, starting with your latest post, open it in the editor, make one minor change such as adding and then deleting a space, and then click “update post.” Check your blog and if it is back to normal, you are golden. If not, open the next post and do the same thing till it goes back to normal.

Thanks Sacredpath, I will have a look at that.
Raincoaster, an example of a post where it happens is http://biomadd.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=237&action=edit
This is called Deery Me on the public site at http://www.biomad.net with text across images. Thanks for helping. -
There is something going on with your caption code:
<div id="attachment_238" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 438px"><a href="http://biomadd.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/fallow1net.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-238" title="fallow1net" src="http://biomadd.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/fallow1net.jpg?w=477" alt="" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Stag fallow deer watching our every move</p></div>The width of your caption (which is set to alignleft):
style=”width: 438pxThe width of your image:
jpg?w=477This same thing happened about a week ago to someone else, and I gave him information about fixing the source code, but he ended up just deleting the images and re-inserting them. That worked.
As for why it happened? I don’t know.

Thank you 1tess, I will look into that, when I tried just dragging the images to another place in the post they became separated from their captions, which I had not realised could happen! The rogue floating captions then became difficult to do anything about!
-
Personally, I almost never use captions because their coding is so touchy. But again, I don’t know what caused this problem. Seems that if it is related to switching themes then it must be a bug.
If you add captions exclusively in the Visual editor, your cursor is not always outside of the code for the caption so your post can get very messed up. My recommendation is to insert your pictures, write your text, and finally add the captions by editing the photos.
-
Thanks again 1tess. Yes I do only use the visual editor, I know I would have more control if I learned to use code, but I lack the time to explore and learn it at the moment. Your comments are most helpful, I will try a new post now by inserting a photo first, then text, and finally a caption. I’ll let you know here how I get on, many thanks.
