Cannot select my name

  • Unknown's avatar

I want to setup up my WordPress site to be name ItsAllVegan. I used to have this site but deleted it. Now I am ready to set it up. WordPress says this name is not available, but it is actually my name. How can I set it up again. (I also own the name ItsAllVegan.com.)

    Hi there,

I see that the site: itsallvegan.wordpress.com has been permanently deleted. Unfortunately, it would not be possible to bring that site back. However, since you registered the domain: ItsAllVegan.com, what you can do is start a new WordPress.com site and I can move the domain mapping to that site.

This means that readers will not see the address with .wordpress.com at the end of it. They will only see ItsAllVegan.com.

So in order to start a new site, please log into WordPress.com and go to My Sites at the top of the page. There will be a box to Start a New Site.

After you create that let me know and I can move the mapping to that site!

    Cheers!

I have created the new blog: claybuvegan.wordpress.com

If I understand right, you will map it to my domain (itsallvegan.com). What info do you need from me? Name servers?

    Thanks.

    Hi Loyd,

Thank you! I have mapped it to claybuvegan.wordpress.com as requested! I am able to view your site at that address as seen here:

It that is not what you see, can you please try clearing out your cache and cookies using the guide below?

This is what I seen when I go to the link you gave: Click here
I assume this is correct and once I build the wordpress site and publish it, the “Nothing Found” will be replaced with my actual site.

Is the the correct steps now:

    1. Build the WordPress site
    2. Publish the site (in WordPress)
    3. Go to my hosting Cpanel and install it via the WordPress link.

    Thanks,

    Loyd

You can create your site within the WordPress.com Dashboard of your site:

    https://claybuvegan.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

Once you start publishing posts and pages, it will be seen on the site.

    3. Go to my hosting Cpanel and install it via the WordPress link.

This would not be necessary as you are hosted directly through us at WordPress.com. This step would be if you decided to go to the self-hosted version at WordPress.org.

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. At WordPress.com, we provide hosting, support, and tons of features for blogs. Users also have the option to purchase a variety of upgrades to customize the look and feel of their blog. WordPress.org is a software for self-hosted sites. With WordPress.org, users are provided access to all backend files and can upload custom themes and plugins.

    Hi Grace,

You say that you can see my site at: ttps://cloudup.com/c2YHCDauDb3

Can it be seen at http://www.itsallvegan.com? ( I have installed wordpress at my hosting company) When I go to http://www.itsallvegan.com, it looks like I am able to see my blog, but on the blog page, it says:

    Not Found
Apologies, but no results were found for the requested archive. Perhaps searching will help find a related post.

When I go to http://www.itsallvegan.com, am I looking at my wordpress blog? Is this my current blog that I am seeing?

Also, why is the link to install plug-ins missing from my dashboard? I was working with Jordan at WordPress on this. Here is our conversation:

    ——————————–
claybu The plugins link is missing from my dashboard.

Jordan Hi there :) It’s actually not possible to install custom plugins on your WordPress.com site. Many of the features are already built in though, so if you let me know what you’re looking for I’d be happy to help.

claybu I was looking for All In One SEO Pack, Facebook Comments By Fat Panda, and Facebook Fan Box With CSS Support.

Jordan Ah, okay…if you need those types of plugins, you’ll need WordPress.org, which means you’d sign up for another web hosting service like HostGator or Bluehost and then install WordPress.org on your account there.

Jordan WordPress.com ensures your sites are SEO optimized and commenting is built in of course to every site
Jordan There’s also the Facebook widget as well if you’re looking for that .

claybu I have actually installed wordpress on my hosting account (webhostinghub.com). My http://www.itsallvegan.com domain links to my itsallvegan wordpress blog.

Jordan Did you want to use your domain http://itsallvegan.com for your site at webhostinghub.com instead? The name servers are still pointing to WordPress.com, you’ll want to update them at your domain registrar to point to your new host if so Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with.
    ——————————–

I have changed the nameservers back to my hosting company. Will the Plug-Ins link now come back to my dashboard?

    Thanks.

    Hi there,

It looks like you want to use WordPress.org, instead of WordPress.com. Please note that those are two completely separate entities.

Since you are hosted elsewhere (looks like it’s webhostinghub.com) please contact them regarding this. I do not have access to any of your files, so your host would be the one who can help you.

I’m so sorry I couldn’t be of more help!
