I cannot connect to facebook. everytime i try to check “automatically post to facebook” I get a pop up ad which takes over the whole page and I can’t get out of it. I cannot also upgrade to a premium service since those choices are grayed out and there is nothing i can do when i click on them. George

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

I just checked the post in jvwdad.com and found that the Publicize Facebook connection was not added as seen here:

    Screen Shot

If you are already logged into Facebook, then when you click on Facebook in the link above it should automatically connect to your Facebook.

As for the popup ad that shouldn’t be happening. That wouldn’t be coming from us. Can you please upload a screenshot of that to your Media > Library page? I can take a further look.

As for the upgrade, I see that you were already able to add the Premium upgrade for this blog. Cheers!

Grace thanks a lot, appreciate your taking the time to respond. I’m new at this but what I really want is this. I do NOT want my blog posts to automatically go to FB or anywhere since a lot of my connections won’t be interested. So if i break the FB connection then what can I do to promote the blog on the basis of the content? So I’m not spamming my FB friends but people who might be interested are able to find it? Thanks.

    Hi there,

A great way is a specialized Twitter account based solely on your content. It might take some time to build followers, but over time I find that Twitter is one the fastest ways to get your content out there.

Another possibility would be to just share certain posts on your Facebook profile – the one that you think would interest quite of few of your friends. You never know, it may spark an interest that they never knew they had! Since you already have a base of friends, those interested may share on their walls as well.

Finally I’d say reach out to the WordPress.com community! Use tags and categories for your post. Here’s more information on them:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/tags/

Then readers can search through the tags in the WordPress.com Reader which is found at http://wordpress.com, and this will reach readers who are most likely interested in the topic. You can do the same. Once you start interacting with other bloggers (commenting/liking), I find that you are able to build an audience and gain more followers.

None of these ideas are a quick way to gain lots of readers, but over time I do think the more resilient you are with posting great content, the readers will come.

I hope this helps in some way. Let me know if you have any questions with this!
