Cannot Transfer Domain Name from GoDaddy Despite Unlocked
-
I would like to use our purchased domain name from GoDaddy, however, WordPress says ‘The domain can’t be transferred’ when I input it in the ‘Use a Domain I Own’ menu. I have already unlocked the domain on GoDaddy and so it should be able to be transferred. The other option I am offered is ‘Connect your domain’ but at a cost of £11/yr. Do you know how I can transfer the domain?

Hi there:
You should be able to use the domain here at WordPress.com by upgrading to a WordPress.com plan on your site (Personal, Premium, Business, or eCommerce.) then add a domain connection to use your domain here.
Here are the steps you can follow:

Assuming you have a
.ukdomain based on your use of “£” – you can’t transfer your.ukdomain to WordPress.com, but you can always update your domain nameservers at GoDaddy to point to your WordPress.com site.Let us know if you have any other questions!
