Cannot Transfer Domain Name from GoDaddy Despite Unlocked

I would like to use our purchased domain name from GoDaddy, however, WordPress says ‘The domain can’t be transferred’ when I input it in the ‘Use a Domain I Own’ menu. I have already unlocked the domain on GoDaddy and so it should be able to be transferred. The other option I am offered is ‘Connect your domain’ but at a cost of £11/yr. Do you know how I can transfer the domain?

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

    Hi there:

You should be able to use the domain here at WordPress.com by upgrading to a WordPress.com plan on your site (Personal, Premium, Business, or eCommerce.) then add a domain connection to use your domain here.

Here are the steps you can follow:

    https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/#steps-to-connect-a-domain

Assuming you have a .uk domain based on your use of “£” – you can’t transfer your .uk domain to WordPress.com, but you can always update your domain nameservers at GoDaddy to point to your WordPress.com site.

Let us know if you have any other questions!
