Cannot Turn Site to Private

  There is only Public and Hidden Option available. The Private button is just not there.

  I cannot turn my site to Public! It is set up properly in my settings. What do I do?

  @perspecitvecoach Could you please confirm that under the “Privacy” section, the “Public” option is selected and you have saved the settings?

  @kukulubaba, the only sites in your WordPress.com account are two Bluehost sites on temporary domains, connected to your account via the Jetpack plugin. Those sites are using the open source WordPress software found on WordPress.org. They cannot be set to private like a WordPress.com site, because that is a feature specifically built into WordPress.com that is not part of the WordPress software. On your version of WordPress you need to use a plugin to hide your site from view.

  In future, please start your own thread rather than posting into someone else’s. Posting into someone else’s thread makes it harder for us to help both you and them.

  Your site at perspectivecoach.wordpress.com is set to private, and from what I can see has been since June 2014.

  What exactly happens if you go to https://wordpress.com/settings/general/perspectivecoach.wordpress.com, change that setting and save? Does it give you a Settings Saved confirmation on the screen?

  Can you please check if clearing your browser cache or using a different browser to change that setting helps?

  Thank you. I will start a new chat next time.

  I do get a settings saved. I have always had it set to public. I will look into Jetpack, but it seems strange to have to add something else.

  I don’t know why it says private from 2014. I just opened this site a month ago. I will contact Support.
