Cannot update wordpress because PHP is out of date

    Hi,

    I keep getting this message when I’m trying to update the Word pres version I am using
    You cannot update because WordPress 5.4.2 requires PHP version 5.6.20 or higher. You are running version 5.4.45.

    Can someone help me get around this?

    Since you do not need to update your WordPress version here, on WordPress.com, I’m afraid that your site is not hosted with us. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.

    Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so we can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers.
