Cannot Upload any Media Files

  I keep getting the following error every time I am trying to upload a new media file to my site: ‘Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.’ I’ve tried several things to fix the issue, but am still not having any success. Any advice?

  Can you tell us the URL of the site, and what type of file you’re trying to upload?

  Yes! Basically any file I have tried won’t work… .jpg, .jpeg, .heic primarily.

  Thank you, I don’t know about .heic, but .jpg should be fine with sites on our servers.

  Can you send a link to the site so we can confirm it is hosted here, and troubleshoot further if it is?

  Okay, that site is not hosted with us, but using the open source version of WordPress at another host.

  Please ask for advice from the WordPress.org community instead in the forums @supernovia linked to above.
