Cannot upload images

I have been trying to upload a new image but cannot. I keep getting ‘The file could not be uploaded because an error occurred while uploading.’ This has been the case for weeks. Not sure what is happening. Any suggestions?

Currently, the only way to get an extra space allocation is to purchase an upgrade bundle. https://en.support.wordpress.com/space-upgrade/ Stand-alone upgrades are no longer possible for new purchases. If you already had this upgrade you would have been able to renew it, but you can’t buy a new one if you’ve never had it.
