cannot upload photos

All of a sudden I cannot upload photos anymore to library. I have not exceeded my limit.
When I go to the page for uploading, drop files anywhere to upload, it will not accept photos from iphoto 6, which it always did in the past. Also, the button to “select files” is dead, nothing happens so I can’t upload that way either. I have firefox 3.6.2 and mac os 10.4.11The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m sorry you’re having this issue. What file format are your images saved as (.jpg, .png etc.)?
When you go to upload images, are you doing so by going to the “Add Media” button and selecting images on your hard drive to upload? Are you receiving any error messages?
How large are the images?

I am using jpg files. For instance, 7.7mb, 2 mb, really file size doesn’t seem to matter.
I go to Add Media and try to upload from my hard drive. I receive no error message. The drag and drop doesn’t work, I get a blue screen and the photo won’t go from my computer. The select files button doesn’t do anything at all.
I can upload photos from Safari 4.1.3 but on that browser adding hot links does not work properly.
I can piece together a post between the two programs but it’s a royal pain in the butt.
I used to be able to do it all from Firefox without problem, again, 3.6.28 running on Mac os 10.4.11.

And forgot to mention, I was hoping that this was a temporary bug but it still doesn’t work to upload photos from Firefox.

Those files are vastly too big. Please use a graphics program to reduce them to 72 dpi and no bigger than can display on your blog.

Why do they work when using safari and not on firefox? They’re the same size pictures I’ve been using all along.

You may wish to update your browsers to the current version, and see if that helps. Your Firefox version is over two years old, and your Safari is almost 4 years old. You could also try installing Chrome.

Yeah, I think I will need to update my browser. Unfortunately I will need to update my operating system before I can update to a more recent version of Firefox.

We can’t assure that all functionality on WordPress.com is compatible with out of date browsers, and it’s very possible that your issues are related to updates we’ve made on WordPress.com that will no longer work in your browsers.
If you cannot update your operating system due to an older Mac, you will run into these issues across the internet with increasing frequency.
One idea I found in the Mozilla support forum (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/894856):
For older Macs that aren’t supported in Firefox 4 thru 8, try TenFourFox for PowerPC’s running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 .
http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/This is essentially a different version of the Firefox browser for older machines, built on top of the Mozilla open source code. I can’t promise it will help, but it may be worth a shot as a stopgap until you can get a newer machine that can run current software.
