Cannot upload photos from computer to Blog

  I am new to wordpress and the world of blogging, but familar with computers and uploading photos. Yet I cannot upload photos to my blogsite.
  I followed the directions in the Support section, when in the edit mode I placed the cursor where i wanted to insert a photo and then clicked on the add media button. I chose “insert media, upload files and cliicked on selecgt files expecting to be able to browse my computer to find the photos. Unfortunatley nothing happens when I click on the select files button. I have the same problem with trying to load photos to the Media Library and in setting a featured image. Ideas?
  My pop up blockers are off.
