Cannot use social login once your account is closed

    I have my account (user: marcolopespt) associated with my GOOGLE MAIL (redacted), YET, when i try to login using GOOGLE (not username/password) i get ‘Cannot use social login once your account is closed’

    Can you please RELEASE any previous accounts that are blocking my GOOGLE LOGIN?

    Hi Marco –

    Are you able to access the account through your username / password? I assume so, since you are signed in to marcolopespt and posting here under that account.

    Does the Google option work from a different browser?

    HI! Yes, i can log on using my USER/PASSW combo.

    Using GOOGLE login results in the error “Cannot use social login once your account is closed”.

    Hi there,

    I see you only started using your Gmail address with this account two months ago. Were you previously using that email with another WordPress.com account that was deleted? If so, what was the username of the deleted account?

    Your Gmail address is not currently associated with any other WordPress.com account, but you also don’t appear to currently have any Google account connected to your WordPress.com account for login purposes. Can you please try connecting it here?

    If that also doesn’t work, look under Connected Apps in your Google account security settings. If it shows a WordPress connection there, try deleting it on that end, and then try reconnecting from WordPress.com.

    HI!

    Well, it’s been a painful process in the last weeks MIGRATING all my logins or associated EMAIL (i have HUNDREDS of them!) from “(email visible only to moderators and staff)” (it’s being discontinued by the service provider!!!) to “(email visible only to moderators and staff)”.

    I the WORDPRESS / gravatar case, i don’t recall exactly what i have done! I know i had a long time registered account “(email visible only to moderators and staff)”. Maybe i tried to associate it with GOOGLE LOGIN at some point… and a new account “(email visible only to moderators and staff)” was created? Or i deleted the old “(email visible only to moderators and staff)” account and created a new “(email visible only to moderators and staff)” account, but the GOOGLE association is bounded to the DELETED “(email visible only to moderators and staff)”?

    Please check if there is a deleted “(email visible only to moderators and staff)” account with any associations with GOOGLE login…

    My USERNAME was and still is “marcolopespt” (regardless of the associated email). And YES, i can login using “marcolopespt” or “(email visible only to moderators and staff)” using PASSWORD login.

    I tried to REMOVE the wordpress GOOGLE association (and it was removed from https://myaccount.google.com/permissions, YET, using the https://wordpress.com/me/security/social-login to connect to GOOGLE account results in “This social account is already associated with a WordPress.com account.“

    @marcolopespt can you confirm which Google address you’re trying to connect with the social login? And can you confirm you’re logging in with marcolopespt and not some other account?

    I did that after you suggested me!
    Several times, to be correct.
    NO association in GOOGLE account…
    trying to LINK to google always returns “This social account is already associated with a WordPress.com account.”

    I’m logged in with “marcolopespt” ( (email visible only to moderators and staff) )

    That’s the account you’re currently logged into, right? Are you seeing this when you log out? Or are you trying to log into something else?

    Would you be willing to upload a full screenshot of the error you are getting? You can add it via wordpress.com/media .

    Okay, those aren’t /full/ screenshots but they do confirm the issue is here at WordPress.com and not on Google, which is helpful.

    Do you remember deleting an account here with us, and if so, what was the username?

    And, did the problem start before or after you deleted that account?

    My username always was “marcolopespt”.
    i changed my EMAIL from “(email visible only to moderators and staff)” to “(email visible only to moderators and staff)”

    I received an email today (triggered by TECH support?) confirming my “old” account deletion? So, someone is trying to figure out if there was an OLD account, if it is LIKED to my GOOGLE account, and causing this problems…

    (emails are removed, so, how can i tell you my “OLD” email?) I will try to get around the system (marcolopes @ netc . pt)

    I can chime in here that I had a Google login created account and deleted it on May 25th. I didn’t delink the social login before deleting the account. I still cannot link my Google account to this WordPress.com account. I get the same error as in the screenshots provided.

    Yes… if i deleted my account, more than 30 days have gone, so, it should be completely removed and any associations with a google account should be REMOVED by now (In my opinion, they should be removed IMMEDIATELY after deletion, so GOOGLE account can be linked with any new WP account!)

    There is clearly a problem here with DELETED WP accounts that keep the link to google accounts.
