Cannot use WP.com from school with students?? Single IP for district
-
Can anyone help me figure this out?
I am a long-time WP user who also happens to be a full-time teacher. I recently received a grant for a class set of iPads. My students will be using a WORDPRESS.COM (hopefully!!!!) blog to share their classwork, writing, etc. WordPress rocks – and I even found an app (Blogpad Pro) that works with wordpress (.com/.org) blogs even if we lose wifi at school (happens a lot) and kids can still write/work offline and sync it later.HOWEVER – enter the MAJOR problem: Our school districts thousands of computers only register as a single IP off campus/out of district. This is causing us to get the message that we cannot log-in because there have been “too many login attempts”.
HELP!
My district will not change their practice and they want me to move to Blogger. =( No thank you!Is there any way to make this work??
KateThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There are some anti-spam etc filters in place to prevent abuse
I have flagged this for the staff to give you a more complete answer – schools have been problems in the past

Think there is any hope????
Ay – how I love wordpress and don’t wish to be forced to move to blogger with my students. =(
It was great to find an app that would work offline too.

There is always hope I guess –
are your students all using the same blog?
Do they each have their own user name (account) or are they using a single log-in?
-
They each have their own usernames and URL/blogs.
Only things in common (1) time of day; (2) IP address; (3) App/iPad access.

Thanks – that gives the staff more info to start with – they do watch the forum but they don’t seem to have a fixed time of the day that they answer questions
Good luck
