Cannot verify the https version of my wordpress

  • Unknown's avatar

I recently redirected my wordpress account (https://goo.gl/QJU9Kv) – this is the old site to my new site: https://goo.gl/kExwaf
I managed to google verify the old site: http only. But when I had to do a name change, I get the error that it redirects to the old site.
I contacted google forum and below is the response.

Since the site’s preferred version for the old wordpress site is/was https, that is the site version that should also be added and verified in the Search Console. That is the old site you are moving from. That is why you are getting that redirect warning. You are currently trying to move from the http version of the wordpress site, but it redirects back to the wordpress site, but it is to the https version. You need to move from the https wordpress site. Then for the destination site, you should move the site directly to the https://yournewsitename.com, instead of http://yournewsitename.com It is better to move the old site to the preferred version of the new site.

Now, I can no longer log into my wordpress account to verify the https because the site keeps redirecting me to the new site.

Is there any way I can go in to my https: wordpress account to verify the site ownership?

Hi, Try visiting this link to see if you can access the WordPress.COM login

    https://shmishem.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

    or

    https://wordpress.com/me

If you have issues try another browser or use incognito mode.

If you have any other WordPress.COM site under the same account, you could try logging in via that site instead.

Let us know if you still have problems getting so so we can assist further.

    Thanks, andysabel!

I managed to resolve this issue. I forgot my wp-admin username and password for the old site so I had to do it another way.
