Cannot view pages from home screen
-
For several weeks now I have been unable to get into most of my pages to edit them from the dashboard. When I go into ‘Pages’ > All Pages, it sometimes says I haven’t published any yet (or sometimes only lists two of my 12 pages, which I nonetheless cannot open – just hangs on a white page), but directly above it it says there are 8 Published pages and our site is live and still working. Occasionally I have been able to get into pages to edit them by going into Edit from the site itself, but this doesn’t always work. One of the pages (MAPP FAQ) intermittently does and doesn’t show up (error 500) on the live site. I have tried clearing caches, I’ve tried accessing the dashboard from both Chrome and Firefox. I have tried logging out and in again. I have tried changing the theme, but it won’t even let me preview any other themes, it just hangs on a white page. WordPress is incredibly glitchy for our site at the moment, and I’m paying for premium here and I’m unable to edit most pages now. Please help.

Hello!
We’re sorry to hear that you’re experiencing some trouble. We’d really appreciate it if you could provide us with some additional details. Could you kindly let us know which operating system and browser you’re using, along with their respective versions? Additionally, have you had a chance to try using a different browser? It would be helpful for us to know if the issue persists across multiple browsers. Once we have these details, we’ll be in a better position to provide you with appropriate advice and assistance.
Thank you so much for your cooperation!

Hi, I’m on a Windows PC operating Windows 10, and as I stated above, I have tried this in both Chrome (Version 114.0.5735.199 (Official Build) (64-bit)) and Mozilla Firefox (version 102.12.0esr (64-bit)) browsers – the problem occurs in both.

Hi there,
Thanks for sharing. Our developers were able to replicate this issue during their testing, but I was also able to replicate the problem on a Mac using the Chrome Browser. So, I don’t believe it is an Operating System issue, but we are still trying to pinpoint the cause. We’ll be sure to respond once we look further into what is going on here. Thank you! -

Hi, could someone please take a look at this and let me know what the problem might be? It’s been over a month now. Also, how do I contact billing because I believe I should be getting some money back for the time I’ve been waiting, unable to do much with my website. Could it be copied over to a fresh server or template or something?
Thanks.

Hey there @pospsychbucks, I’m testing a fresh copy of the site to see if I can see what’s wrong.
I noticed at least one of the pages is extremely large: it looks like it may be thousands of pages long, with youtube videos interspersed. Trying to edit a page that large crashed my browser, and viewing it would probably crash a phone. But that doesn’t explain why the other pages don’t show up. We are wondering if it has something to do with the excerpts, and whether adding a custom exerpt would help.
Were you able to edit the FAQ page without trouble before? Any more context you can send would be helpful in solving this. -
I’m at the end of my day, but just as an update I’m still running that import. It hasn’t finished. I did look at the export file, though. I noticed one page is so large, its code would take over 15,000 pages to print, and it has over 2,400 YouTube embeds. Does that sound right, or did a bunch of pages get merged somehow?
If you can share more context about when this problem started, that would be helpful in troubleshooting. Thanks in advance. -
Thanks for looking into this. Is it the MAPP-FAQ page that’s causing this problem? That was the one I was editing and I was trying to add internal bookmarks when it crashed. I don’t know why it’s that large though, although I was having some difficulty with adding blocks vs paragraph tags. Could that page just be deleted? That might fix the issue? I can’t access it to delete it.

It looks like that might be the one indeed – it definitely was not responding well when I tried to load it up.
I think I’ve managed to reach the revisions however, and restore a version from just before it crashed; it isn’t perfect as I had to do so via the Classic Editor and I believe that this might have affected the formatting of your MAPP-FAQ page, but it looks like it should technically be editable now. It definitely looks like all the content is very duplicated!
Could I ask you to head in and check if you can access it?

Thank you so much!!! That’s done it – I can see my pages again and get into it to edit again! Yay! :)
