can’t accept invite

  I’ve been invited to a wordpress.com site as a contractor.

  I was able to create an account (with the email the invite was sent to) and log in. But then when I clicked anything in the sidebar (e.g. Pages), I got the message ‘You don’t have any wordpress sites yet’.

  What’s going on?

  I’ve discovered the reason, and a workaround, but I don’t understand it.

  For some reason the dashboard links are wrong. For example, “Pages” goes to “https://wordpress.com/pages/themilsource.com”, which doesn’t work for me. But if I change it to “https://themilsource.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page” I can see it.

  I am just a contractor on the site, so I don’t own it. Is there a problem with my wordpress.com setup?

  Hi there,

  I can see you were invited to that site, but our logs show you were removed as a user again around 50 minutes ago, even though they don’t show anywhere that you accepted the invitation, so I’m not sure what’s going on here.

  That site is on our Business plan, so it will be best if the site owner contacts live chat support directly for help sorting this out. They can reach live chat by going to https://wordpress.com/help/contact

  Yes, they removed me because I asked them to try re-inviting me. Thankfully it worked!

  Even though some dashboard links are still of the form “themilsource/wp-admin/edit…” and some are like “wordpress.com/comments/…” I can now access both.

  My suspicion is that it had something to do with the flow of creating a new wordpress.com user and then accepting the invite.

  When I was invited again the second time, I already had a logged-in wordpress.co user and it all went smoothly.

  Yes, some URL’s will show wp-admin, while others will not. This is to be expected with the WordPress.com unified dashboard.
