    Hi there!

Can you let us know the URL of the site where you’re having this problem? Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise.

    Thank you!

Hi thank you so much for answering. The url is
    Polkapanda.uk
    And
    Polkapanda.co.uk

My Web developer has changed the admin log in and password and will not give me the details.
He has been charging me a fortune and now that I know he cannot build the website he sold me,I want to move it and host it with another company but to do that I need the log in details to both the admin wordpress and the log in details to the hosting company which he will not give me.

I would really appreciate some help as this last 1+ year has been a nightmare that just keeps getting worse..
If anyone could help me I would genuinely be so grateful. I just want this nightmare to end. :/

  • Hi there,

I checked your site and unfortunately, we cannot help because we don’t host your site directly on our WordPress.com managed hosting. Instead, your site is hosted with a different provider on a separate host, and we cannot take a closer look. Looks like your site is hosted with Namecheap, so I would first reach out to them and see if they can assist:

    https://www.namecheap.com/help-center/

The good news is that because your host uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform (which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com), help is available at the forums here:

    https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/ .

The folks in the open-source forum are more familiar with these issues and are in the best position to help. I hope this points you in the right direction.

    Hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for your help and suggestions.
My log in details do not work on the WordPress link you sent unfortunately.

He changed the log in details and the master email is his, so I cannot just change the password and log in..

This guy has been hosting my dad’s company emails for years and I thought he could be trusted..
    It’s shocking what he’s doing..

I will contact namecheap but who knows if they’ll be able to help.
Are there any legal routes to take? Ive worked 12hour days for a full year at a loss to pay for the crummy website he built.
I now have no more money and now I don’t even have a website…
He can’t even sell it at half the price I paid for it which was my last out, not to lose all the money I spent…

Now he won’t let me leave and keeps trying to charge me money to try and leave.. the very thing he told me he wouldnt do and something which the large companies do…
And how can I trust him at this point.. paying him would be opening the door to more blackmail.

There has to be a way to get justice with this sort of thing right?

It’s literally blackmail and stealing all wrapped in one. This is surely illegal right?

  • My log in details do not work on the WordPress link you sent unfortunately.

WordPress.org is entirely separate from how you log in to your WordPress site and WordPress.com, so if you’ve never asked for support at https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/ you’ll need to start by registering a new account there.

He changed the log in details and the master email is his, so I cannot just change the password and log in

    This might help: https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/#through-phpmyadmin

You’ll find phpMyAdmin in your hosting account’s control panel.

If you don’t have access to the hosting provider, that’s the most crucial step, so I recommend contacting them via https://www.namecheap.com/help-center/

Are there any legal routes to take?

I’m sorry, but we are not equipped to comment on legal matters here.

If you have any trouble with the above, please let us know, and though we cannot assist directly with this, we’ll do our best.

    Hi thanks, for your response.

I’m in touch with namecheap but because he set all this up (registered it all) who knows if they will even recognise me as the owner.

Thanks again for your help and everyone who has taken the time to respond and advise. I will update soon if thats OK, once I get feedback from namecheap and hopefully manage to get access.

    Regards,
    Meroujan
