Can’t access account

  • Unknown's avatar

I have an account already but couldn’t log in with my user name and password so I created a second account. I had tried using password reset but never got an email. I’m trying to see if I can access any of my website files for the above domain as my host deleted my account (sigh) and does not have a back-up of it. I’m trying to get it back up as soon as possible.

    WP.com: Unknown
    Jetpack: Unknown
    Correct account: Unknown

  • Hey there, the domain didn’t come through. Can you share the link with us?

    Also,

my host deleted my account (sigh) and does not have a back-up of it. I’m trying to get it back up as soon as possible.

Sadly, if it was hosted elsewhere, we probably don’t have a backup of it either, unless you were using Jetpack backup. If you’d like us to check, send the address. Thanks!

The domain is https://asyourgardengrows.com. It was hosted elsewhere, yes, and I didn’t use Jetpack. I honestly thought I was covered by the host provider since I was paying for backups and recovery. The last backup they made was already deleted, however. Assuming you don’t have a backup either, do we delete this new account and I get access back to the old account? Or, perhaps the new host provider will provide me with a new WordPress account. I wasn’t sure how that works. Thank you!

To clarify, we’re a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software. The WordPress software itself doesn’t create backups – that’s why many people have third-party plugins like Jetpack to make backups separate from the hosting as many hosts don’t automatically create backups, or in your case, they deleted the backups as soon as you stopped paying for their services.

Since we didn’t host your site, we would not have any backups.

I would recommend reaching out to your host and asking if you can pay to reactivate your account so you can get your site and its content back. Once it’s up, you can start the process to move your site here if you choose. You can find out what’s involved with that here:

    Best of luck!

There is no option to pay to reactivate my account as my entire website as well as all of my emails I had are permanently gone. They confirmed that. This is very unfortunate and I find it hard to believe they don’t store sites for some period of time to allow enough time to contact their customers at least by a few means. I’ll never let this happen again and will rely on my own back-ups. Regarding my WordPress accounts, I now have 3. 1 I can no longer get in to that I had with iPower, a second I created the other day, and a third which is the one I’m using with Bluehost. Do I need to do anything with the other 2 to help with account cleanup? Thank you.

  • You do not need to do anything.

Just as long as you have access to the WordPress.com user account you intend to use going forward.

I do have the needed access, thanks. Thank you everyone for the quick responses. Much appreciated!
