Can’t access admin dashboard

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello, my name is Nolan and I recently tried to install Mail chimp for newly created blog. Through the mail chimp site they sent me a line of code which I was to paste into my websites html. I didn’t know where to put this and I accidentally pasted it into my site’s url block in the settings section of my admin dashboard. I unfortunately saved it I believe and now I have no access to my admin dashboard and my blog website is currently funky. Is there anyway you could just undo this for me so I could reset and try again?

  • Hi there,

Your site is not hosted with us on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another host.

Changing the domain on a stand-alone WordPress site like yours has to follow a specific process. You can find the documentation for that process here, though many hosting providers have their own process for this via their hosting control panel.

    https://wordpress.org/support/article/changing-the-site-url/

Depending on your setup, you might be able to fix this yourself using those instructions. If not, please contact your hosting provider directly for help.

Once you have that fixed, you can find general advice on your version of WordPress, including how to add the code Mailchimp gave you, by asking the WordPress.org community at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
