Can’t access admin. WordPress username not recognised

  Hi. I hope someone can help!

  I created an account in wordpress.
  I have a installed wordpress on an external host, a subsidiary of GoDaddy.
  I have a domain mapped name.
  If I visit my domain homepage I can see the default WordPress theme.
  I want to log in to get into admin panel but the wordpress login screen doesn’t recognise my user name!

  On the bottom right column of the screen I click ‘Log in’
  It then directs to http://MYDOMAINNAME.com/wordpress/wp-login.php
  I then get the WordPress log in screen
  I type in my username and password, but it DOESN’T recognise the username. But when I go to wordpress.org to log in it does!

  Am I trying to log into my account the right way?
  Can somebody help please?
