Can’t access back-end of website

After doing a WP update, I was not able to access the back-end of the site (the front-end looks fine). I only get a 404 page saying that the login page cannot be found. It appears that it has been moved, but I didn’t move it. I’ve tried disabling all plugins, which does allow me to get to the login page, but it won’t recognize my username/pw or my email/pw – says those things don’t exist. I tried with the client’s credentials, also…same thing.

I inherited this site (I’m at least the 3rd designer), so I’m not sure where to start on this…especially not being able to access the back-end. Do you know of a plugin that would cause these behaviors? What would you recommend?

  • Hi there,

https://ichiroclinics.com/ is not hosted on our servers, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider, so we don’t have any control at all over that site.

The login credentials for user accounts for that site are stored in the site’s database on the hosting provider’s servers, so contacting the hosting provider directly is your best bet for getting help with this. Based on the domain’s IP address, the hosting provider is https://www.tier.net/

You can see the password reset instructions for your version of WordPress at https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/

For more help with this, you can also ask the WordPress.org community for advice at https://wordpress.org/support/forums, though I recommend you try your hosting provider first.
