In order to help you we need to know your specific computing environment details. Please work through what follows and report back.
1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
3. If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/
(a) Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
If applicable see here for instructions on how to clear the cache for Chrome and Safari on the iPad:

http://browsers.about.com/od/howtousemobilebrowser1/ss/How-To-Clear-Browsing-Data-In-Chrome-For-Ipad_6.htm(b) Make sure that you have both third-party cookies enabled and JavaScript enabled
http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654(c) Disable all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily.
(d) Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
Add both *.wordpress.com and *.wp.com to your list of trusted sites under the Security tab. Make sure to uncheck the box for “Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.” http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/#frequently-asked-questions
4. Try using another browser.
5. If you are not successful let us know:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/
(c) And what any error reports you receive state. -
a) laptop
b) Chrome version is 31.0.1650.57
c) No data received – Unable to load the web page because the server sent no data.

Please let me know the outcome of trying timethief’s suggestions. I’d also like to know if the problem resolves itself if you try a different browser.

Hi I am also unable to access my dashboard today using Chrome or IE. and I see there is more than one thread with this query. This looks to me remarkably like the situation back in July (?) when the service was at best intermittent and mostly unworkable for a couple of weeks. I believe mainly UK users were affected .
Other wp users in Uk have discussed similar problems today in social media.
Hoping to raise awareness of what coud be a more widespread problem than it appears.
Thanks for any advice.

Are you using Talk Talk or another UK ISP?

Were there any links to articles? I’d like to have something concrete we can look into further.

Same problem here trying to access either my blog or the admin:
http://humancyclist.wordpress.com/Error code: ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE
Chrome and talktalk. Odd that I can access it in other browsers including Chrome in incognito mode. Can’t be an ISP issue if I can access it in other browsers?

Scratch that, I can now access the site although my open ID via WordPress is no longer recognised when commenting on other sites: Your OpenID credentials could not be verified.
The gremlins are having fun!

@alanwsp, it sounds like it could be a connection issue. Has this just happened for you or has it been going on for a while?
What happens when you go to http://worldsportprofile.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ ?
Anything change if you go to https://worldsportprofile.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ ?
Are you getting the same error messages?

Same problems here, same messages, in Firefox, Chrome and IE. On Talk Talk in the UK. But had no problems on my work computer in the office. Could not access dashboard this morning and still can’t now, although I can access my stats and stuff at wordpress.com.

If you could access everything at work, but not at home, that does suggest an ISP issue. From a handful of reports I’ve seen, it sounds like Talk Talk may be causing some issues for WordPress.com users. You may wish to contact them directly.

We have received a number of reports that our users with the ISP TalkTalk are having difficulties accessing WordPress.com sites.
