Can’t access defunct account
-
A long time back (sometime in the 2000s I think) I set up an account “urtext”, mostly as a placeholder, I never did anything with it. Lately I want to resurrect it, or at least reclaim “urtext.wordpress.com” to use for support for plugins and other WP code I’ve been working on.
The account predates 2FA and is probably associated with an email address for a business that’s been out of commission for a decade. But I have a suspicion that it was set up with an email address that I later reused for a my development account, so the old account is just a ghost in the database.
So I don’t have any “proof of ownership”, but the account is dead, has no content and has been dormant for decades. So what I’m wondering is:
- is there a way to flag accounts as defunct or at least get someone to check the database
- alternatively, is there a way to transfer a dead blog name to another account?

“urtext.wordpress.com is no longer available. The authors have deleted this site.”
Deleted sites can only be restored within 30 days after deletion. I guess that site has been deleted long time ago.
The email address is the unique identifier on the wordpress.com platform; it’s impossible to have the same email address for different wordpress.com accounts.
Deleted subdomains cannot be recycled after deletion.
