Cant access Enhanced stats for website
-
This is hard to follow – will try to make it simple as possible. I started out with a blog and website address for faithandgardens.com and .wordpress.com… I decided I didn’t like the name so changed it to faithinspiredfoodie.com. I was pretty new so made the mistake of adding a blog faithinspiredfoodie.wordpress.com instead of changing the existing one. Now I have a website faithinspiredfoodie.com but to access the admin section or post on the blog for the website my personal (only for my eyes) address is faithandgardens.wordpress.com. My problem is this: when I try to log into the stats section (from admin) I can see stats, but when I try to see the enhanced stats – it directs me to the second blog I set up faithinspiredfoodie.wordpress.com. and the stats there are zero (because the default address is the faithandgardens). I don’t want the faith and gardens – but cant seem to get rid of it since its the address for my blog posts. I can live with that if only I could get to the enhances stats to see the stuff from my website. does anyone know how to deal with this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You are domain mapping. You need the faithandgardens.wordpress.com to map from to the domain URL. faithandgardens.wordpress.com is in fact the location of your content, and the domain URL is just like a street sign.
Primary Blog is Set
faithinspiredfoodie.com is set as the primary domain for faithandgardens.wordpress.com and will appear in the address bar when you visit the site.Staff will explain this to you when they work their way forward to this thread.

Thank you for any assistance – I am not deleting anything haha. I don’t want to lose the blog posts, theme or widgets I have already set up………. I guess the most simple thing I want is to have one website http://www.faithinspiredfoodie.com with one blog where I can access all the stats and not have to bounce back and forth through sites. Also, the only way I can get to the admin for the website is to actually go to the website and click on My Site in the black bar underneath the URL….. I don’t even have an option to switch sites if I end up on the one I’m not using..

You are not comprehending how domain mapping operates. The domain URL is just a sign like a street sign.
If the domain URL were removed your content would still be exactly where it is now at http://faithandgardens.wordpress.com
Please just wait for Staff to explain this to you and assist you.

Thank you :) I understand that. I am just frustrated that I don’t have access to the Enhanced Stats for the domain – and I have to go to the domain to actually access the admin stuff (there is no option to switch sites)…… but you are right, I am not very computer saavy and I am probably not getting it very clear. I will sit tight and hope for the best. THANK you for your help :)

While you are waiting you can set the https://faithinspiredfoodie.wordpress.com/ blog to private.
To change blog visibility to Private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3. See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings -
Hi there,
Sorry for the confusion! Your site faithinspiredfoodie.com (faithandgardens.wordpress.com) was set as hidden on your My Blogs page, so your full stats page for that site wasn’t visible. I set that site to visible, so now you can view your stats page for that site here:
https://wordpress.com/stats/faithinspiredfoodie.com
Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

TimeThief and Rachelmcr THANK you!! I have been struggling with this for 3 weeks now (watching youtube videos and learning and reading forums) but no one knew how to help and it was such a simple fix!! So I guess my only other question is this – because I made the error of adding a blog rather than just changing the name of the original, am I stuck with two sites? If yes, I guess that’s ok since I can access everything now. Thanks again for your help!

If you no longer want the old site, you can change the Privacy Settings to make that site private (so only you can see it) or you can permanently delete it. Keep in mind, though, that deleting a site can’t be undone — you won’t ever be able to use that site’s address in the future, so only do that if you’re really sure you don’t want it anymore. :)
-
I would actually like to delete it but would want very specific instructions to do so (I’m not sure I would do it right and I don’t want to delete the wrong thing)… I can see that with the change you made I can access everything and its much easier to navigate through Admin so I can live with that (The only way I would ever use https://faithinspiredfoodie.wordpress.com/ is if I was able to transfer the http://www.faithinspiredfoodie.com to that URL address. Is that possible?

The only way I would ever use https://faithinspiredfoodie.wordpress.com/ is if I was able to transfer the http://www.faithinspiredfoodie.com to that URL address. Is that possible?
That’s possible, but right now all of your content is linked to your address faithandgardens.wordpress.com. If you transfer your domain faithinspiredfoodie.com to faithinspiredfoodie.wordpress.com, you’ll see the content at faithinspiredfoodie.wordpress.com when you visit your domain.
If you want to transfer your domain over, you can do that from your My Upgrades page by clicking the link “Transfer to another site” under your domain name there.
You can also move your content from one site to the other by exporting it from one site and importing it into the other, if you’d like.
Please let me know if you’d like further help with any of those steps, or if you’d like to go ahead and delete the old site.

OHHH!! That is the PERFECT solution (that is what I was trying to do when I added the second blog – but was too uneducated and messed things up).. The perfect solution would be to transfer the domain http://www.faithinspiredfoodie.com (and all the content) to the faithinspiredfoodie.wordpress.com so that I have one domain (faithinspiredfoodie.com) with one blog address that is the same (faithinspiredfoodie.wordpress.com) and the rest can just go away because its just extra stuff that gets in the way (and to be honest – confuses me)………… I cant even tell you how much your help means to me. And I’m sorry I messed it up in the first place. Sincerely Rene

Hi Rene,
Alrighty! The first step is to export the content from faithandgardens.wordpress.com. You can do that by heading to Tools > Export in that site’s dashboard and following the steps to export all of the site’s content.
Then, you can import that content into faithinspiredfoodie.wordpress.com. You can do that under Tools > Import > WordPress in that site’s dashboard. There, you can import the file you got when you exported your other site’s content.
The last step is to head to your My Upgrades page to transfer your domain from one site to the other with the link I mentioned.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
-
Thank you for all that. It is WELL above my comfort zone with computer stuff (but I don’t have the 169 to have someone from WordPress do it right now). I will ask a friend to see if they can help with these steps. Will let you know how it goes. Once all this is done (changing everything over to the faithinspiredfoodie.wordpress, will that become the default address?
-
If you follow those steps and run into any trouble with them, please let me know and I can continue to walk you through the process.
Once you’re done with the entire process, faithinspiredfoodie.com will be linked to faithinspiredfoodie.wordpress.com with all your content there. :)

You don’t need to create the XML file — that’s the file you’ll download under Tools > Export here:
https://faithandgardens.wordpress.com/wp-admin/export.php?type=export
You can click on “Download Export File” to download your site’s XML export file. That’s the file you can upload on the Import screen on your other site. :)
