Can’t access my old WordPress blog
-
Hi, I had a site that I hosted and did food reviews on a few years ago. At some point I stopped doing food reviews and the blog shut down. It says ‘Visible’ under the dashboard but I keep getting a screen that says: ‘You have 1 hidden WordPress site.
To manage it here, set it to visible.’I would like to be able to access my old blog since there’s some sentimental stuff I wrote on there that I want to save… hopefully the content can still be accessed. Anyone have any tips?
WP.com: Yes
Jetpack: No
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

Hi there!
Thanks for reaching out. The reason you’re still seeing your previous WordPress site in your WordPress.com dashboard is because you had connected it to your WordPress.com account using the Jetpack plugin. However, it’s important to note that this connection only allows you to manage certain aspects of your site from that dashboard and doesn’t serve as a backup for your site. When the original site is deleted or disconnected, we also remove that content from your dashboard since the connection is no longer active, which is why it now appears as “hidden.”
If you didn’t have backups of your site or didn’t download a full directory (including your database) before your hosting lapsed, there’s a risk that your content may be lost.
One option you could explore is using the Internet Archive (https://web.archive.org/) to look up your site and retrieve content from previous snapshots.
I hope this information provides some clarity.
