Can't access private blog in spite of having an account and an invitation

  • Unknown's avatar

I was invited to view a private wordpress blog. I created this wordpress account to access it. But every time I try to log in, I get the same login page over and over. The blog user has sent me invitation twice and I have no idea how to access it now. Please help.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

Please try logging in to your WordPress.com account at https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php first. Then, you can click the “Accept Invitation” button in your invitation email to be added as a viewer on that private blog.

If that doesn’t work for you, you can also copy the link from the bottom of that invitation email and paste it directly into your browser’s address bar to accept the invitation.

If you run into more trouble with that process, or still can’t view the private blog after that, please give me a link to the private blog so I can investigate that for you.

    Hi,

Thanks for responding. I tried our suggestions. I logged into wp-admin, and then clicked Accept Invitation. That didn’t work. I tried with copy-pasting the link at the bottom. That too didn’t work. Both of the times I get plain white page with a message at the top left “User is already a member of your blog.” And yet, when I visit the blog (irrespective of logged in or not), I get a login page. I try to enter my username and password, and it just refreshes and shows me the login page again.

I’m sorry I’m not able to give you the URL of the private blog without their consent (which I have asked for, but haven’t received reply yet). I’m genuinely baffled why this process is stalling! Does it matter that their wordpress blog is set to a CustomName.com URL? That is to say, does it matter whether the invitation was sent from UserName.wordpress.com when that name redirects to the CustomName.com?

    Thanks again for response!

    Hi there,

If the site you’re being added to has a custom domain name (like CustomName.com instead of UserName.wordpress.com) that can cause this, depending on your browser’s settings. You’ll need to make sure you have third-party cookies enabled in your browser — that makes sure you stay logged in to your WordPress.com account even on sites with custom domain names.

You can head to our Third Party Cookies page to check to see if third-party cookies are enabled in your browser. That page also has instructions for enabling them if you need to.

If that doesn’t fix it for you, or if you have any questions about that, please let me know. :)
