Can't access site
-
I am unable to access my site to write a new blog. Recently I keep getting a page that says Unsupported Browser, but have been able to access the blog by pressing ‘Continue loading the page anyway’. I’m using an up to date version of Chrome on a Mac. I’ve also had the same problem using my iphone. I tried switching to safari but that didn’t help.
I have cleared my browsing history etc and now don’t know what to do. Several of the events I blog about are time-sensitive so I really need to get an answer soon.
Many thanks, Sue Richardson.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello Sue,
Many thanks for reaching out.
Recently I keep getting a page that says Unsupported Browser
Can you tell us what browser you are using please?
Many thanks.

Hello there,
That is most odd – do you have any browser extensions installed? For instances anything related to ad blockers?
Can you also detail step by step what’s being click that leads to this message please?
Many thanks.

No extensions. If I type wordpress.com I now get a blank screen with the logo in the centre. The same is happening if I type OATG blog into Google, open the latest blog and click on My Site in the top left corner. I’m no longer even getting the Unsupported Browser message first. The same happens on Safari. We’ve also tried my iphone and my husband’s computer which is also a Mac.

Hello there,
That’s very odd behaviour indeed. Would you be able to provide a screenshot of what you’re seeing via: https://snipboard.io/
I’m at the point where I’m wondering if perhaps the internet connection has cached something it shouldn’t have, like a loading screen of some sort.
Would you be able to clear the browser cache and also see if this happens on a different internet connection please.
Many thanks.

I’m using WordPress.com. I don’t have the option of trying a different internet connection on my Mac. Have just tried on my iphone using my 4G mobile provider rather than the wireless connection I usually use. Typed wordpress.com into google and got to the general wordpress website. pressed log in and got the unsupported browser page again. Also went to the blog page on the 4G network and the same thing happened. When I then pressed ‘continue loading the page anyway’ I got the blank page with the wordpress logo.
I took the screenshot as instructed, but I’m not familiar with snipboard so hope you received it.

Hi there,
I see that you stated above that you are using Chrome 67.0.3396.87 which you mention is “up to date” for you.
Is there any chance you are using an older Macintosh computer? The reason I ask is because I am on a Mac as well but for me the most up to date version of Chrome is 93.0.4577.63 so am wondering if you are using a computer with an older OS.
Can you click on the apple menu at the top left, then “About this Mac” and let us know the version number for your OS? Do you have the option to use a newer version of Mac OS than what you have installed currently? Thanks for the additional info!

I think you have hit the nail on the head. I’m currently using OS 10.9.5 (Mavericks). I can’t upgrade because I’m using Adobe Creative Suite 5 which will not work on higher OS versions. We spent a lot buying this software which is now only available on a subscription basis.
Can you think of any workarounds? -
Hello there,
Can you think of any workarounds?
Ideally you would need to update Mac OS – are you able to find out if this is possible within the subscription?

Hi, I’m having the exact problem, but I am using Chrome version 76.0.3809.136, which my Chromebook is telling me is up to date. It is around 5 years old though.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, tearing my hair out.
Thanks, Guy
