Can't access site and password reset didn't work.
-
Hello:
I’m trying to access multiple WP installations on my domain and my password reset did not work. I had requested a password reset months ago when I found malware on my site, and for some reason I never got the email for these and I was busy (grad school thesis defense / moving / wedding) so I didn’t get to this until now.
I still am not getting the password reset emails.
I tried resetting the password via PHPmyAdmin, and though I did it correctly, I’m still not able to login. Is there a lag time between the password change on PHPmyAdmin and having it actually be recognized as a change?
Please let me know what I need to do to get this fixed. I cannot log in and I need to redesign / update my portfolio and blog ASAP so I can get a job.
Thanks,
Calee -
Also — I looked at:

I’m going to try the FTP method. I don’t know how to do the MySQL or other things and I don’t want to mess up my site.

This is wordpress.COM support. Our sites do not have FTP access.
You are posting to the wrong support forum.
We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites. Our support docs do not apply to
(1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or
(2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM.Also, note that we do not provide Jetpack support https://jetpack.me/support/ for sites linked to wordpress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites wordpress.com account page.
Some Jetpack solutions are here http://jetpack.me/support/
Others are in the Jetpack support forum at WordPress.org
http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpackHowever, if help cannot be found at either one then they can file a Jetpack support ticket here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-service
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
As you are referring to a site that is not hosted here, if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.
Resetting your WordPress.ORG password http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page

Thank you! Sorry — I didn’t realize there was a difference between the two forums as they gave me the option (via a pull-down menu) to choose my non-wordpress-hosted site for this forum.

Ugh.. I registered there and I can’t get in because they have to EMAIL ME MY PASSWORD. I’m just not getting emails from wordpress.org for some reason. Not in my spam. Not in my trash.
Is there any way to contact wordpress directly?

Hi @runningchimes,
I registered there and I can’t get in because they have to EMAIL ME MY PASSWORD. I’m just not getting emails from wordpress.org for some reason. Not in my spam. Not in my trash.
WordPress.org is a separate site from your own installation. They’re on different servers and all, so it’s highly unlikely to be the same problem unless your email is filtering out stuff that mentions WordPress.
If you aren’t getting email from either, I’d check with your mail host.
You could also try these tips.
http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_PasswordThere are several options listed there — just choose the one that seems to fit you best. If you need more help, again, your host might be able to help you, or you can find tips at wordpress.org/support even if you can’t post there yet.
