Can't Access the Dashboard to Manage My Blogs
-
Why am I suddenly not able to get to the page where I can manage all my WordPress blogs? I can access the dashboards for each blog but can’t get to the page where I see “My Blogs” – and so I can’t change blog names or delete a couple. What is going on?
There’s obviously a strong push for WordPress bloggers to upgrade and pay. I use these blogs for teaching (college). In fact, I was trying to rename and delete blogs and then create a new one to use for demonstration. I’ve wasted hours and I’m completely frustrated and angry. I’m going to recommend a different site for free blogging and I’ll tell my students how difficult it is to access information and support for a WordPress blog.

This is your profile page of the username account you are logged in here with https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/mondiato
If you have multiple username accounts then you have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard.
Clicking this link should display all your blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden
If you do not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then
follow this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#my-blogs-dashboard-visibilityIf you have lost your log-in information you can visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
If required you can complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and submit it to the Account Recovery Staff so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums which are available to everyone with internet access.

All support docs are at http://support.wordpress.com
Search for delete site https://en.support.wordpress.com/?s=delete+site
Here are the results
Note also that there is no Recycling of Blog Addresses (URLs) when they are deleted. Also note that Staff have linked the step by step learn wordpress.com blogging tutorial to the bottom of your Admin page at http://learn.wordpress.com

Alternatively see http://edublogs.com which runs on the same software that WordPress.COM runs on.
Edublogs lets you easily create & manage student & teacher blogs, quickly customize designs and include videos, photos & podcasts – it’s safe, easy and secure. The site is specifically set up for teachers and students. All edublogs are are advertising free, whereas our blogs here at WordPress.com are not ad-free, unless we buy an annually renewable Premium bundle upgrade.

I’ll check out Edublogs. I hadn’t heard of it.
But your response about accessing my Dashboard wasn’t helpful. I was, in fact, logged in with my only WordPress user name account name. I couldn’t delete or change blog addresses because I couldn’t get to my Dashboard! Instructions for this are nowhere.
Just after I emailed, I tried one more option – rolling over each blog name as I switched the site and then clicking the drop down menu “WP Admin.” This isn’t intuitive at all! There could be a simpler way (and there was, in the past) to get to my Dashboard. Instructions would help!

Thank you for passing this on. I apologize for the impatience and blunt response (frustration).
Edublogs charges $39 yr. for 10GB. More importantly, for visual arts disciplines, the 32MB limit for instructors is pointless. Students can do very little with 500MB. WordPress blogs can handle many visual examples – I’m satisfied with that. I wish more templates were designed for images – they’re obviously better for writing. If I had the skills, I’d try to help.

You’re welcome and no apology is required. After nearly 9 years of answering support questions here my Volunteer skin is like rhinoceros hide. Granted there are trolls, who do piss me off but I don’t bother saying so, and you are not a troll; you are a frustrated blogger. My advice is “hang in there” as Staff will respond as soon as they work their way forward to this thread.
