Can’t access to edit

  • Unknown's avatar

I have bekindnomad.wordpress.com and the page loads but when I try to access the wp-admin or ‘write’ or manage blogs I can’t access it to make any changes. I can sign up for a new ‘free’ website but when I try that it wants $18. I am just trying to get access to the free portion of the wordpress blog sites. I think what happened is that I owned the domain name bekindnomad.com which I had connected to the wordpress widget but I can’t seem to access it as just a free blog page. Is there some way to make it just a free version?

I don’t have a site linked to this WordPress.com account

  • Hi,

Can you clarify something for me?

Your WordPress.com user account has three sites connected to it:

    https://bekindnomadcom.wordpress.com/

    Home

and a site hosted elsewhere, but connected via Jetpack:

    https://bekindnomad.com/

Are any of those three the site you are trying to access? Or are you trying to access bekindnomad.wordpress.com as you listed above?

I just did bekindnomadusa earlier today because I couldn’t get into bekindnomad. Not sure what BeKindnomadcom.Wordpress is – I had BeKindNomad.com as the domain I owned and that was connected with WordPress to use for creating the site. Unless BeKindnomadcom.Wordpress was when I was trying to sign up for the new/free page but I didn’t finish they process because it was asking for $18. When I got to BeKindNomad.Wordpress.com I can see my page but I can’t access it to make any changes to it.

  • Hi there,

Thanks for confirming. To clarify we’re a different provider from your host, who I see was GoDaddy when I look at your domain’s DNS history:

Is it possible that you forgot to renew the domain? We don’t have any insight into that (we’re not connected to GoDaddy) but I do see that the domain is not working and in the DNS history it appears that the site has not been online for a few months.

We do not have a way to access GoDaddy servers, but I recommend that you contact them and see if they are able to offer more info on your site.

Unless BeKindnomadcom.Wordpress was when I was trying to sign up for the new/free page but I didn’t finish they process because it was asking for $18. When I got to BeKindNomad.Wordpress.com I can see my page but I can’t access it to make any changes to it.

That site is not connected, and I can confirm you have not made any purchases. To clarify, the reason we’re connected at all is because there was a plugin on bekindnomad.com called “Jetpack” and to use the cloud services of that plugin require an account here. But we’re not connected to your site directly, and can’t help with logging in or with understanding why it is not accessible. For that you will want to check with GoDaddy as I mentioned above.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Yes, as I mentioned, I did own the domain bekindnomad.com but I also have the free WordPress version bekindnomad.wordpress.com which I should be able to access to edit like I would any other free WordPress blog site but I’m guessing because it was linked to the owned domain it’s not showing up as a page I can edit so I attempted to start a new page bekindnomadusa.wordpress.com but I’d rather be able to access and edit bekindnomad.wordpress.com instead. Is there some way to disconnect the domain access to the WordPress site so I can edit it like a normal free blog site?

  • Hi there,

bekindnomad.com and bekindnomad.wordpress.com are two different sites, so bekindnomad.com shouldn’t be preventing you from accessing bekindnomad.wordpress.com. The reason you’re unable to access the site is because bekindnomad.wordpress.com is actually not connected to the account you are contacting us from, bekindnomada42a8a9b5c. It is currently under a different WordPress.com account. Do you happen to have a different WordPress.com account that you can log into? If so, you’ll need to log out of your current account and log into the one to access the site.

Once you regain access to that account, you’ll be able also to disconnect bekindnomad.com. Our support page provides a guide on how to remove self-hosted WordPress site from your WordPress.com account:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/disconnect-jetpack-sites/

If you have any questions or trouble with the disconnection, let me know, and I’d be happy to assist.

    Thanks!
