Can't Access WordPress Admin

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I’m trying to go to my admin page to view my stats and create new posts, but every time I go on, I get an HTTP Error 500 message. I haven’t downloaded any new plugins recently or added anything new to my website so I don’t know why I can’t access anything.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Brianna,

Is your site hosted here on WordPress.com?

It looks like your WordPress site is self hosted. For support on self hosted sites, visit the forums at WordPress.org –
    http://wordpress.org/support

To know more about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, visit this page –
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Even though we don’t provide support for self-hosted sites, I want to share this short info which can help you understand a bit more about the error –

Response status codes beginning with the digit “5” indicate cases in which the server is aware that it has encountered an error or is otherwise incapable of performing the request.

Read more about HTTP status codes on this link –
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_HTTP_status_codes

I hope this helps in some way. Good luck :)

    Hi Brianna,

Internal server errors (error 500) are often caused by plugin or theme function conflicts, so if you have access to your admin panel, try deactivating all plugins. If you don’t have access to your admin panel, try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

However, if this doesn`t solve your issue there is a chance that your current hosting package/server is running out of available resources and the server is killing the processes, causing the 500 ISE.

It is possible that the 500 error is being caused by too many processes in the server queue, this can be caused by an overcrowded server.

If you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for any errors that occurred during that time period.
