Can’t Access WordPress Admin site
-
Hello,
My father’s website is showing the following error:
—-
You can’t get there from here (site_id mismatch error). This happens when an external blog (a self-hosted blog using the Jetpack plugin) is pointed to WordPress.com by DNS.
If you are trying to migrate away from WordPress.com, please update your DNS to point the domain to your own server.
Otherwise please contact WordPress.com support and explain what you were trying to do, what steps you took, what you expected to happen, and what actually happened.

We used to use Network solutions but migrated away due to costs. The site worked fine for 6 months but then we started to get this error. I believe something is not set up right but I’m stumped at what the problem is. Perhaps the NetSol hosting lapsed and the DNS is pointing to nothing. I thought we moved to WordPress hosting but I could be wrong.Perhaps it worked bc the hosting wasn’t expired but I thought that hosting had been migrated but I could be wrong. I can’t sign into the wordpress admin portal so I can’t see if there is a hosting bill due or if there is another issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
We use cloudflare for DNS which points to sunsetisland.org and .com. (Currently .org is redirected to .com).
My questions:
- How do I access the wordpress admin site if I can’t get passed the above error?
- Is this just a hosting issue & I’m missing something. (IE: Do I need to find a new hosting provider, or is there a way I can point the DNS to the right hosting for wordpress?)
- Anything else you recommend I check, change, etc.
Thank you so much for your help in advance!

Hi @nikka488,
Thank you for reaching out. We’ve checked both sunsetisland.com and sunsetisland.org, but we weren’t able to find a WordPress.com account associated with either domain.
It’s possible that your hosting plan with Network Solutions may have expired. If that’s the case, the website may have gone offline, and the DNS settings might have been reset; potentially defaulting to point to WordPress.com.
We recommend contacting Network Solutions to verify:
- Whether the domains were previously hosted with them.
- If so, when the hosting plan expired.
- Whether this timing aligns with when you last saw the website live.
If they confirm the domains were hosted with them, you’ll have a couple of options:
- Renew the hosting with Network Solutions.
- Transfer your hosting to another provider — including WordPress.com, if you choose.
If you’re considering WordPress.com, you can review our hosting plans here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Please let us know what you find out. We’re happy to help further based on the information you receive.
