Can't add a new credit card
-
Our previous business credit card expired and I was trying to enter our new credit card (a Visa card) but it keeps failing. I have verified we are entering the correct name on the card, correct account number, correct expiration date, correct CVV code, correct country, and correct zip code. I also called Visa support and walked through the process with them. Visa verified that our card is active and they also verified I am entering all of the correct informaiton. I have tried several times to enter the new card information in the ‘Add a New Card’ area but it fails and I keep getting a red bubble with an exclamation point and an ‘X’. If I hover over the exclamation point or anywhere else in the bubble, there is no information. The only thing I can click on is the ‘X’ in the red bubble and that closes the bubble with no additional information on what is going wrong. Our subscription expires in 20 days so if someone can help with updating our credit card before then, we would greatly appreciate it.

Bonjou!
You don’t actually need to post on the forums for this question, if you go to https://wordpress.com/help/contact, it will contact the experts directly and they can walk through the process and help with any issue there might be.
Al the best!

Hi there,
I would be happy to assist you in renewing your subscription. However, the upgrade that was purchased is not associated with the account you contacted us from. Until recently, you were able to renew an upgrade that was under your account, but now only the owner of the upgrade can. To confirm ownership, post in this thread under the username/account that purchased the upgrade. Then, I can look into renewing the subscription upgrade. However, you should be able to renew the domain if logged into the account that owns the upgrade.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Hi darnelldibbles. Thanks for your reply. Our WordPress website is for a church. As such we have had several volunteers work on it over the years and I am not sure which account would have been associated as the owner of the upgrade purchase. I tried to remove all of the other accounts and attribute their work to this account (“delanochurch”) since it is the one we use to administer the website. That does not seem to have worked. Can you help us identify the appropriate account to use for purchasing our upgrade and editing our credit card details?

Hi there,
Removing a user from the site won’t move upgrades in their account over to you. It only results in them being unable to access the site while still owning the upgrades.
I can tell you that the Premium Plan and domain mapping belongs to one of the users you removed, stienessen, but I cannot move the upgrades over to your account without their permission. If you still have contact with that person, please ask them to post here to confirm, and then I can move the upgrades to your account.
Otherwise you’ll need to wait for the upgrades to expire next week, and then you’ll be able to buy a new Premium Plan using your account once the expired upgrades are removed from the other account.

Thanks Kokkieh. We don’t have contact with stienessen so I think we will have to let the upgrade expire and then repurchase a Premium Plan using our current Administrator account.
I have a few questions about what will happen if I allow the upgrades to expire: 1) Will our site lose it’s domain mapping? 2) If so, is that something I can just re-map as soon as I buy a new Premium Plan using our current Administrator account? 3) Will we lose any of our current site content or configurations? 4) Do I need to backup our site before our current upgrade plan expires to prevent losing any data?
Thanks!

The domain mapping will also expire, yes. There is a waiting period before another user can add the same domain if a domain mapping expires, but as you are the actual site owner we can help you add the domain mapping back manually once you’ve bought the new plan. Either comment here or start a live chat with us, which you’ll be able to do as the Premium Plan owner at that point, so we can help with that.
> 3) Will we lose any of our current site content or configurations?
Your content is completely safe at the free address, no matter what happens to your domain or your plan.
As you are not using a Premium theme, and don’t have any custom colours, fonts or CSS added, the only thing that will change on your site once the upgrades expire is the domain.
You don’t need to make any additional backups :)
Also, once the plan is expired and removed from the other account, I recommend you remove that user as an admin on your site. As admins can do anything on a site, including deleting it, it’s best to keep the number of admins to a minimum, and not to have someone no longer involved with the website have that level of access.

Hello again. In the last post above, from Kokkieh, Kokkieh mentioned the following, “…domain mapping will also expire, yes. There is a waiting period before another user can add the same domain if a domain mapping expires.”
Can you tell me how long the waiting period is before another user can add the same domain?
I allowed our plan to expire last night and I tried to purchase a WordPress Premium plan today, using our WordPress Administrator account. I got an error back that said, “Unable to buy WorPress.com Premium, this site has WordPress.com Premium purchased by different user.”
-
The waiting period applies only to domain mapping, not to plans.
You’re unable to add the plan because the existing one hasn’t been removed from the other account yet. That doesn’t happen immediately upon expiration, as we give a short grace period to still allow late renewal.
As the upgrade has expired, however, I’ve manually removed it. Please purchase the plan from your account, and then let me know so I can add the domain mapping for you.

Hi Kokkieh. I have purchased the “Premium” plan for our WordPress account. Can you add the domain mapping for “delanoumc.com” for us now? Thanks!
-
Okay, your site is now showing at the domain again.
Also note that as your account now owns the Premium Plan, you have access to live chat support during weekdays. Other accounts on the site will not be able to access live chat, however.
Let me know if you have any more questions or if I can help with anything else.
