Can't add a new link

Don’t know why? All of a sudden, I can’t add a new link to my existing edited post. I do get the window and paste the url into it, but when I click “Update,” the editor just returns as if I had cancelled? Any ideas? (And, the link is not added). I know that it is probable something I did by accident, but for this post, which is long and popular, The last two times (once yesterday) and another day, no go. WordPress has been shut down and restarted and I closed out and opened the post and none of those things have worked. All of the “old” links in the post still work fine – just can’t add a hew one.
