Can't add a photo…can't space paragraphs

I AM WAITING TO FINISH MY POST…..IS ANYONE THERE TO HELP ME?????????????

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

My advice is that you stop creating duplicate threads. Return to the one I last posted to and wait patiently in line with everyone else for Staff help.
    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/rondo0709

Staff work through all forum threads tagged for their attention and through all email support tickets in order of datestamps and timestamps – first posted first served, as would be expected.

Creating new threads and/or emailing again and again means they have more recent datestamps and timestamps, which means it takes longer to get help.

Thank you for trying to help. But the idea of being stuck is frustrating. What makes it worse is there is no reason for this delay. I am simply trying to add another photo as I have done for the last 200 photos. And spacing a paragraph shouldn’t be all that difficult.

  • What interface are you using to make a post? Are you logging into your WordPress.com Dashboard and using Posts–> Add New. Or are you using the new post button from WordPress.com?

  • Unknown's avatar

Thank you for getting back to me.
I’m using the first one you listed.
I ‘m posting a 2 month trip to Asia and I’m 95% done with this post. If I had just started the post I would gladly start over, but I have hundreds of photos already in the post and I’m just trying to finish this post.

  • Just to clarify, you are adding hundreds of photos into the same post?

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes. Right now I have about 350.

  • A much easier way to display a large group of images on a post and have them lay our nicely is to use the gallery feature:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/

I suspect the different alignments (left, right, center) you’ve given your images is causing the problem. The gallery feature will free you from all of that. You don’t even have to erase anything you have done. You can set up the gallery, insert it, and if it works the way you want, THEN remove the existing images.

Let me know if you have any trouble.

I did this as you suggested: Settings → Media in your blog’s dashboard, scroll down to “Image Gallery Carousel,” and select the box next to “Display all your gallery pictures in a cool mosaic.” But doing this did not help me to add one more photo.

I have had No trouble adding titles to any of my other photos. That seems to be working just fine.
The position of each photo seems to show up anywhere they want to appear so I am not that concerned as to where they appear. If I highlight the edge of a photo that has been previously added to the post, my new photos will show up near the already posted photo. And that is just fine with me.

But the problem still is….that I have:….3.0 GB used, 1.2 MB (0.0%) upload space remaining. ……….But I can not add one more photo. I have been trying to upload a photo the same way I have uploaded all my other photos, BUT A message keeps popping up that states: Error IMG_0077.JPG
An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.

And the para graph problem remains. I have had no problem in the past spacing between paragraphs but with this post I space the paragraph and it looks good in editing….but then this SPACING does not show up in my draft. The post just looks like ONE LONG PARAGRAPH.

    I’m mystified.

  • Have you tried adding another image aside from that particular file? It may be that there is something about that file itself that is causing the error.

By now you know that I am Not writing any books on how to use the internet. I am a retired…. amature. None of this comes easily to me. So I beg your forgiveness for my failures. To my embarrassment I finally noticed that my 3.0 GB of available ‘space’ was used up. I was reading 1.2 MB of available space remaining …. as 1.2 GB of available space remaining. That was the problem. Hence, I could not add another photo.

So I upgraded my free account for $99.00 per year, which gave me more ‘space’. And that corrected the ‘adding a photo’ problem. Now I am able to add additional photos, which is fantastic news.

But, I still have the the ‘spacing’ problem. My last post looks like one very long paragraph. From the editing window, I have added space between my paragraphs on my ‘Vietnam post’. And I can ‘see’ the space on the editing page. But when I ‘upgrade’ that post this spacing DOES NOT SHOW UP on my upgraded post. I have had no problems with spacing for any of my 15 other posts. So I am pretty sure I know how to add ‘space’ between my paragraphs. So, without me wasting another two weeks waiting for this simple problem to be fixed, what is the solution to my ‘spacing’ problem?

I had hoped that by speaking to technical support that they would have actually looked at my posts. That would have been very useful to everyone concerned in this matter. Tech support would have noticed right away, that I needed an upgrade in my available ‘space’ and that problem would have been corrected by me immediately.

If someone can take a look at my posts now, they will see that I have ‘spaced’ them in the normal fashion. That is, there is the customary space between paragraphs. That is, for all of posts, except for my last post, Vietnam. That post will not allow me to add ‘space’ between my paragraphs.
Please……take a look at my post to see what the problem is so I can correct this. I’m sure you have better things to do than to keep going through this problem over and over.

  • Are you double or single clicking “enter/return” when you are going to a new paragraph?

  • And glad to hear that you sorted out the image storing issue.

  • Unknown's avatar

I get to the end of a paragraph and hit………… enter….once. It spaces correctly in the editing phase but when the post is ‘updated’ the viewed post does NOT show spacing.
After you asked the question about single or double spacing ….I went back and tried again to double clicking and then updating….but the spacing still does NOT appear on my post.

Even before …..I contacted you, I tried spacing 1, 2, 3, and 4 times…but the spacing just does NOT appear in my updated post no matter what I do. I have a very long paragraph that looks like crap. Hence my request to tech support to help me space in the normal manner.

To say the least I am totally frustrated by this whole process. I have just spent the last two weeks waiting for answers from wordpress tech support, and so far I have not heard of one solution to any of my problems. Someone in tech support should have found my lack of GB availability that caused my inability to add photos. That’s a pretty basic problem. And I, as an amature had to figuer it out. To add to my frustration, I just spent $99.00 for 12 months of upgraded service from wordpress. Your site states $99.00 will cover one year of upgraded service. But after your company received my money ….suddenly…I was notified that I have to renew my subscription after only 11……months. What up with that???????

I am more than unhappy with having to stop my blog for two weeks while tech support misses really basic problems and solutions.
And I am now having the feeling that WordPress is not living up to their stated commitments about a 12 month upgrade for $99.00….
If you can enlighten me about why my 12 month contract is now only 11 months I would gladly appreciate it.

And if you could get my spacing to actually space, i would appreciate that also. If you can’t do that, then please turn my case over to someone who can, because this is immensely frustrating.

  • If you can enlighten me about why my 12 month contract is now only 11 months I would gladly appreciate it.

If you have autorenew set up for a WordPress.com upgrade, that renewal is run 30 days before its expiration date. Why? Since letting a domain or other upgrade expire can cause significant problems for a site, we want to ensure that everything is taken care of in advance. We do send out notification emails before charging your card, as we try not to surprise anyone. This is mentioned in the “my upgrades” support document and when you set up your auto-renewal. But it can also be easy to miss, so I understand the confusion.

You can turn off auto-renew from the “My Upgrades” page:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/

To be clear, the upgrade’s expiration date is one year from the day you first purchased it. And once renewed, by autorenewal or manually, the expiration will be one year further out. This is not a case of paying for 12 months and only getting 11.

  • Regarding spacing:

I’m seeing a strange bit of HTML code on your vietnam post in the “text” editor view:

    <div class="gmail_default"></div>

Are you copying and pasting from gmail by any chance?

    Generally:

While similar, blog WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editors and word processors do not work the same way. A good resource for learning to format on WordPress.com is:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/styling-individual-posts-and-pages/

If you are working in the Visual editor, to get single spacing between paragraphs hold the SHIFT key down and simultaneously click ENTER at the end of the paragraph.

If you are working in the HTML (Text) editor, a single click of ENTER will give you a single-spaced line, and two clicks of ENTER will result in double spaced lines.

    Another resource worth reading is:

That makes perfect sense. Thank you.

Now, could some take a look at my post …….and tell me why I can’t seem to add a space between paragraphs. I have been telling this tale for over two weeks and my post still looks like….well it looks terrible. If you read my communications with tech support you will see that I have not changed anything…but your site will not allow me to space correctly. This seems like a simple problem but each time I write to tech support it takes them 2- 3 days to get back to me with a question. Sometimes…asking a question that I had previously answered.
Surely there is a simple way to add a space between paragraphs. And I can’t be the only person to have ever had this problem.

jeremeylduvall It is Josh that has been asking me the same questions for two weeks, and I am going nowhere with the solution to this problem. Adding a simple space between paragraphs can’t that that difficult to do. And it shouldn’t take 18 days …..Is there tech support or not?
