Can't add a sidebar to my home page

Hello! I am trying to add a sidebar to my home page so that I can put an Instagram widget there but I just can’t add it somehow. Can someone here tell me how can I do it? And if I need to change my page’s layout for that, how do I do it?

Some themes are designed to have sidebars and some are not.
Volunteers cannot view private blogs and we Volunteers do not request access to them. Staff can view private blog content and this thread is tagged in the sidebar with modlook for their assistance. Your site, autamiestamaessa.wordpress.com, is using https://wordpress.com/themes/karuna/ which does not have a sidebar area for widgets.
You can add the Instagram widget to the designated widget areas in Karuna or I can help you find a theme that might work better for you.
Besides the sidebar, do you want any specific features?
