I’m glad this was here to help me, because I was having the same problem! Everything worked fine before the upgrade a few weeks ago.

  • Unknown's avatar

Thanks also for this thread. I too was having this trouble and have been shaking my head for weeks, unsure as to how this very easy task had become impossible for me!

    Thanks again!

http://nuralqasas.wordpress.com/ I just bought a space upgrade and I think I have followed all the steps but when I click on the new URL created according to Mtdewvirus’ instructions of Dec.6 above, I get a “file does not exist.” Any ideas?

  • Unknown's avatar

Many thanks to Mtdewvirus for the steps he so carefully outlined above. My mp3 file’s in place and on my computer anyway it’s accessible. C’mon over and listen!

  • Unknown's avatar

Ok, i have gone through all the steps and I dont even get a player (then error opening file). I bought space, have proper mp3, copied and pasted link URL, including [audio ........]. but it just shows up on the blog as text exactly as it looks in the page editor.
Help! this is for a school project that must be done by tonight.

ps my blog address is mcwicht.wordpress.com

Oh man! for anyone else…I figured it out!
just put an = sign in the url after audio! and add it in the HTML, not visual editor. God this is ridiculously complicated.

    Hello all…

    newbie here…

    got a similar problem.

I created an audio of my own material in mp3 format.

I somehow managed to convert it to a URL and then used embed source code to load it to the index page of my website.

Now, I have other audios around 4.5 mb that are in mp3 format.
I need to know how to create the url for the mp3 so i can embed the file.

FYI:I build pages using dreamweaver, and use ftp software to load to the server.

Please help – not too much of a techo so all responses need to be laymans (“…for dummies”) simplicity.
Not that I don’t “get it” but I don’t always fathom the intention of jargon.

My original audio is in this code format and plays beautifully on my site.
    <embed src=”http://www.mywebsite.com/recording.mp3″ loop=”false” autoplay=”false” width=”115″ height=”60″></embed>
Now, that is the only code I have used, and I have somehow sourced the file and it has loaded correctly as a url.

When I attempt to create the file link in dreamweaver, it won’t do anything.
The only difference is that I want the embed to be on an extension page ie http://www.mywebsite.com/extension.html
so is there a different way to create the url for an extension page?

I have been playing with this for DAYS, and writing on all sorts of forums – with answers…

    HELP…

I am becoming so confused and frustrated!
    Cheers,
    Ms T

@twohandsdancing: Please paste the exact URL of your blog when asking questions here (or link your nickname to your blog as explained in the Sticky “8 Things to Know“). We cannot help you without that.

But it seems your question isn’t how to post your mp3s in your blog at all, but what to do in dreamweaver or in your site. In that case we also cannot help you: this is a support forum for problems re wp.com blogs only.

That link plays an Enigma piece, but the mp3 starts with an advertisement of MyPodcast.com. Are you sure that this is what you want in your post?

  • Unknown's avatar

yes, its just the example. I had my library of recorded voice. Any way i just want the exact code to paste in my post. Pls have sympathy over me. I just want the code. My frist concern is not avoiding the advertisement but if its possible then suggest me. I just want the code. I have already pasted my link of audio.
    Pls say my code.

    [audio URL_HERE]

    or

    [audio=URL_HERE]

Make sure the URL is pasted as plain text, not a live link (that is, not blue if you paste it in the visual editor).

wow!! wow!! that worked. Mr/Mrs panaghiotisadam you are really great. I am so happy, this application has broadened my dimension of blog.
But still !! my last question , then i will not irritated you ? heeh

Can i avoid that mypodcast advertisement ?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Heeh!

I don’t know how MyPodcast works – do they automatically add that to your mp3s? If so, upload them elsewhere. Must be a host that allows you to get the DIRECT URLs (e.g. Fileden or Getdropbox).

PS1 Nothing great about my previous reply: it’s all in the FAQs.
    PS2 It’s a Mr.

The audio shortcode does not need an = sign. However, you should add it in the HTML editor.

“The audio shortcode does not need an = sign. However, you should add it in the HTML editor.”

Sorry, the equals version is a valid alternative, and you can add the audio shortcode in either the html or the visual editor.
