Can’t Add Categories

I can’t seem to add categories. So far I have two posts. I can change the two categories I have, but when I try to add new ones a pink box appears that says I don’t have permission to add. I am the admin of my blog, doesn’t that mean I have permission?

No, it doesn’t mean that. First off, two questions:
1. where are you trying to add the category? In the write post window or the add categories?
2. Which browser are you using?
I know there has always been a problem with adding categories in the write post window in Internet Explorer.

I had the exact SAME problem.
I could not create new categories – on ANY screen – using ANY browser…
It happened when I first created my blog.
After a couple of days passed, though, I was suddenly able to add categories.
Then, when I created my second blog… I had the SAME problem with that one too.
After a few more days, I was able to start adding categories there too.
(Maybe the programming gods don’t want NEW bloggers getting carried away adding categories too soon! LOL :)

Jannette, if you make me an admin for your blog (address theapparatus at gmail dot com) along with a list of what categories you want in there, I can add them in for you.
I’ve done it before. :)
I would also send in a feedback stating that you’re having an issue and gie the details that you have up above. I have a feeling though that staff is going to tell you it’s the browser as it’s not standard.

You’re welcome. I’m sorry I can’t help you. The only thing I can think of is to download a free browser like firefox2 or Opera 9 and try again.

I was having no trouble at all adding categories to my blogs until tonight, then I started having exactly the same problem! “I can change the two categories I have, but when I try to add new ones a pink box appears that says I don’t have permission to add.”
I tried resolving the problem by using both of my computers — a PC and an iMac — using different browsers (IE, Firefox, and Safari). I still cannot add categories!
What is even stranger, is that I just tried to add a category to two of my three blogs without any trouble, but cannot add a category to my third blog (all under the same username).

(1) Have you tried force clearing your browser?
Windows – IE or FF – crtl F5
Macs – FF – Cmd-Shift-R
(2) WordPress usually works well with IE7, FF2 and Opera 9. Safari and IE6 have issues.If you haven’t upgraded your browser that is always worth a try.
(3) Is your problem isolated only to Categories or does the same thing happen when you try to you add links to your Blogroll?
(4) If 1 or 2 don’t work for you then you will need staff intervention and this is secured by sending in a feedback, including as much information as possible and then waiting patiently for a response.

I’m having the same issue, but it has extended to not being able to delete posts. I was adding categories earlier today, and after adding 4 or 5, all of a sudden it wouldn’t allow me, saying I don’t have permission. Then when I tried to delete a particular post, it denied me that, too. I can still add posts and pages and do other administrative actions, but those two things are really bugging me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
