can’t add categories
-
I see this is still in the hover mode. I’m still having the same problem. I did send in feedback and they basically said sorry but nothing can do to fix. It gives me hope that somebody got an ‘we’re working on it’ response. Maybe there is a bug and they’re trying to fix it.
I’m considering starting another blog and transferring everything over – then deleting the old blog.
Anybody know if that will work?
Oy, what a saga!

Any resolution to this catergory problem? I can’t add anything. :( I keep getting “something strange happened”. Yea, I’ll tell you what’s “strange”.. I’m trying to add a category! ;p Any help will be appreciated. :)

I recommend you send in a feedback so staff knows all the blogs that are similarly affected.

Today I can finally add categories!
Thanks WordPress programming guru’s for fixing that up!

I had a prompt reply to my feedback, and now today I checked and it’s finally fixed! Yay wordpress! :D

I am having the same issue…the categories I have used previously can be checked to associate them with a post, but I can’t set up any more categories beyond what I’ve used in the past. When I highlight one from the list and click OK as usual, absolutely nothing happens.
Windows XP with Firefox.
I’ll send in a feedback.

I have the same problem, thanks for the editing suggestion. At least I can change something!!

I got this problem when I use Opera browser.
Everytime I try to create categories, nothing happened when I hit the Add button.
Then I switch the browser back to IE and it works normal now. -

Been here 57 minutes and you state that. Why do I doubt you’re creditability on that subject? Must have something to do with your company and it’s policy of protecting spammers and childporn sellers. :)
Answered any abuse complaints lately? Doubt it.

I had a similar thing just happen to me just a few minutes ago. It was working great this morning, until now. The only thing different that I did was add two plugins (Tiger WP admin theme and enabling Akismet). I changed to different browsers (from Camino to Firefox in OS X) and turned off the Admin theme and it was still not working after a cache clear. I deactivated the Akismet plugin did a cache clear in Firefox and it worked!!
So try clearing your browser’s cache and see what happens. It could have been one of the plugins or just Camino/Firefox acting up.
Just thought I would let you all know, since this was a webpage that came up when I was looking for a solution for this problem.

Same problem with WP 2.1 in Firefox 2 and IE 6 and 7. Cleared the cache to no avail. I’m going to downgrade WP for now :(
I see dozens of posts around this problem ranging back to Fall 2006. Very surprised this issue still exists!

markms and asterix1, you’re both at the wrong site. You need to be overe at http://wordpress.org as you’re running different software.
Very surprised this issue still exists!
As we are with you missing the Please Read Me First at the head of the forums ;)

Hi Drmike,
Sorry! New to WordPress (most familiar with Drupal and Joomla) and didn’t realize .com was a hosted version of WordPress. I found a solution that works on my self-hosted WordPress that might actually apply to the hosted version as well, since users typically type in the address with/ or without (www):
The solution for me to get categories working correctly, after trying various suggestions including clearing the cache, resetting browser profiles, etc. was to access the site via the non-www version (ie. example.com instead of http://www.example.com).
I had an htaccess rewrite setting that was redirecting to http://www.example.com – I’ve now reversed that so everything goes to example.com.
