    hi everyone!
i’m extremely annoyed at the fact that i can’t embed ceratin types of media into my sidebar with the theme mistylook…or is it just me?

i wanted to embed a LOOKBOOK.nu widget a while ago, which i think had css, and it would just show up as a small portion of it jumbled in text instead of the widget. and today i tried to embed my google friend connect ‘follower’ widget and it didn’t work at all.
i don’t know what to do and i don’t want to change my theme because i spent a long time personalizing it! help!!!

i don’t use any of those high tech wordpress applications, i just use my dashboard off of wordpress.com. i don’t really get the difference, i just know one is an application. just makin that clear! :)

here’s my blog in case the link doesn’t show up: http://iomoo.wordpress.com

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is NOT a theme specific issue. Our wordpress.com free hosted blogs are not free standing blogs. WordPress.com is a multi-user blogging platform. There are code restrictions here as bad code on a multiuser blogging platform can bring down many blogs. The e software is programmed to strip Javascript codes out. Google Connect and Google Friend and LOOKBOOK.nu widgets contain Javascript so we cannot use them.

If these are deal breakers for you then the solution is simple. Hire a web host and get a free software download for a free standing wordpress.ORG install. See here > WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org: The Differences > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Also note that In a nutshell no blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.COM blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM

The advertising exceptions noted in support documentation are for high traffic blogs that qualify for and are accepted into the Ad Control program, and for extremely high traffic blogs that qualify and are accepted into the paid VIP hosting program.

oh i see. regardless, CSS AND javascript are not compatible with my sidebar widgets. but now i understand, thanks!

No that’s not what I said. The widgets you want to use are JavaScript. They cannot be used on wordpress.com free hosted because the software will strip out the Javascript code.

    you’re not listening to me.
*REGARDLESS*, css AND javascript have NEVER worked for me in the past. only plain HTML. and i understand why that is now.

and yes i said i understood that. thank you.

This has zero = nothing to do with CSS. You’re welcome and happy blogging. :)
