Can't add contact form
-
The button ‘add contactform’ is missing in my WordPress.com site. It’s made with the TwentyEleven theme. How to solve this problem?
The site mentioned is NOT the site having the problem; it’s a private site.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Please let me know the address of the WordPress.com site you’re having trouble with so that I can assist you further. If it’s private, no one will be able to see the site itself other than WordPress.com staff.

Hi Jaciedana,
It’s a site of one of my students. First of all: I don’t know the URL, and second: it’s private. I’d be violating my students’ wish for privacy if I’d give the URL here (stated that I knew that).
Besides I think seeing the site isn’t necessary to solve this problem. If so, I have to ask my student for his domainname.
But thanks anyway.

It’s very difficult to troubleshoot this unless I can see the site in question and see if there’s something happening there.
Since that’s not an option, please ask your student to review our support documentation on creating a contact form:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/
If they are still having difficulty, please ask them to post here and I would be happy to assist them further.

Hi,
That’s impossible, since his TwentyEleven theme doesn’t even show the button ‘add contact form’.
So that’s the problem :-)

This is not theme related at all. You can create a contact form on any and every post and page in each and every WordPress.com blog no matter which theme is being used.
Provided the student is logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog he/she can create contact form by using the guide Staff already linked to above.

Hi timethief,
Thanks for your reply. I know this button should exist in every theme and in every editor, so I thought: maybe it’s theme related. I don’t understand how my student can create a form when the button is missing. You and Staff points to the regular way, but there this button is being used. And yes, he uses the login items he made when signing up. He’s the only user, so that must be admin.
So, as far as I understand, this doesn’t help me any further. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Not providing the blog’s URL simply means there is no means available to us of verifying that the blog is actually hosted by WordPress.COM. WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and different http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ WordPress.COM support documentation at http://en.support.wordpress.com does not apply to WordPress.ORG installs.
-
It’s definitely *.COM, my students only work with that at the moment. I’m very familiar with both platforms, I use them for courses and for my business as an editor and website builder.

If it’s really impossible to solve this without viewing the URL, I’ll have to ask my student. Is it possible to send it in a private message?

We cannot help you any further with this even though we want to. Working through an intermediary to provide support to a third party is not ideal, nor is it necessary, as anyone who can blog can communicate right here with us by typing.
Working without a URL is unacceptable. Your student needs to post right here in this thread and provide relevant information ie. the URL of the blog in question because that is required to get assistance from Staff.

Any wordpress.com user who requires support by email can email support@wordpress.com and get support from Staff.

@hiekevanhoogdalem I would very much like to assist you but without being able to see the site in question I can’t really do much. As far as I’m aware there are no current issues with the Contact Form button on blogs here on WordPress.com. That doesn’t mean your student isn’t running into a glitch or perhaps a misunderstanding, however.
I could provide much better support if 1) I knew which site it was so I could take a look to make sure there isn’t something wrong with the specific site (it happens), and 2) If your student would post here directly for assistance, as trying to help someone through an intermediary is often ineffective.

Hi both,
Thanks for trying to help so far. I’ll contact the student and ask him to post his url.
Thanks for now.

Aiaiai… I asked my student several times before I started this forum topic, but only now he discovered that this is about *.ORG. So… the discussion can be closed and/or deleted. I’ll change the status.
I’m sorry for taking your time. And thanks for your answers.
