Can't add hyperlink

Last week, I posted and hyperlinks were added as usual. This week, when I click hyperlink button nothing happens. Have had Twitter exchange and hope someone picks this up. I am not technically minded in any way! Please don’t suggest I add code anywhere. All other buttons (bold, justification etc) work, just not hyperlink button. Thanks!

Hi, sorry but I dont understand your questions. So not a techie! I use a desktop PC and have used same WordPress blog for years. When editing previously, links added no problem. But when doing last post, in edit mode, the hyperlink button just doesnt respond.
Does that help? I really want to add hyperlinks not footnotes!

Hi – re browser – https://whatsmybrowser.org/b/P9Q4QA7 (IE11) but changing it is not an option. I’m ashamed to say that even changing browsers is beyond my abilities, I’m afraid.
If WordPress hyperlinks can’t be fixed, I’ll stick with footnotes. When I list urls at end of blog, they automatically become hyperlinks, if that helps.
Has this happened to others? Seems such a random fault to be down to my browser rather than WordPress itself.

Hi there,
Can you please check if Internet Explorer is set to block pop-up windows? If so, please try adding an exception for WordPress.com, and see if that helps. The setting is under Internet Options ->Privacy.
The link button is working for me in IE even with pop-up blocking set to the strictest setting, but it worked for another user who also reported this issue in another thread.

Hello, Happiness Engineer! Sadly, that didn’t work – great instructions though. And I did restart PC. It’s showing as *.wordpress.com – I assume that’s OK. Setting was medium and I’ve upped it to medium-high.
I also noticed 2 days ago that I can no longer justify text. All other buttons worked when the problem first arose with hyperlink button but now no justification either. It’s as if my WordPress is dying!
Can blogs be transferred to a new WP blog if this is some weird bug no one can fix?

Okay, it looks like the menu button is a known issue. I’ve added your case to the bug report, but at this stage I can’t tell you if it’s something we will be able to fix. I’ll keep you updated, if I hear anything new, though.
Can you please confirm your exact version for me? In IE, click on Help ->About. If you don’t see Help at the top, press ALT on your keyboard to make the menu appear.
Copy down the complete number that appears, so not just 11, but 11.xxx.xxx.xxx
The problem is Internet Explorer is no longer being updated by Microsoft, which means as the code used on websites evolve, IE simply does not understand that code any more, and is no longer able to display those websites. Within a year or two IE will likely stop working completely with most modern websites, at which point switching to a different browser will be your only choice.

The Justify button was removed from the WordPress software earlier this year. We still have a justify button in the My Sites editor, but the WP-Admin editor that uses the core WordPress software no longer has that button.

If you don’t want to use Chrome, Firefox also works well, though Opera is also very popular and also works well with WordPress.com. You can download both of them from the browsehappy page, yes.
