Can't Add Links
-
I contacted support too. Have not heard anything. Has anyone heard anything from support staff in regards to the link issue?
I know how to add links as I have over 5,000 posts on my blog…but something happened in the last three days….and there is no computer that I can link URL’s to on my posts.
Time for support to answer the question.

I too emailed support and told them it’s affecting all types of browsers, but no reply yet….

As I reported already: it’s not only the linking that doesn’t work normally anymore, it’s also the reblog and the ‘following likes’ buttons that don’t function anymore. Help! What’s going on.
Thnx to support forum I got the code for linking in the HTML editor! I don’t know how to ‘restore’ that other nice and speedy functions.

We think we may have found a link here – users who are using IE7 don’t seem to be able to link anymore but those on IE8 do.
-
the problem isn’t our browsers. As if you backread, it’s with ie 7, 8, and 9, and also for some with chrome.
-
This issue is at least partially related to browser compatibility. We can tell that because when some have switched to using Chrome their problem was solved. We also know that some upgraded their browser they solved their problem. Lastly we know that some of those who have up to date browser versions and who tried using the HTML editor to enter links were able to do so.
Remain calm and patient knowing that everything is backed up. Try the workarounds, knowing behind the scenes Staff are working hard to fix the problem and don’t have time to post and say “we’re working on it”.

I’m glad I’m not the only one with this problem!!!!! I will send a message to Support because the 24/7 Support link has not worked either for the past four days. Talk about annoying!!!!!!! Please, WordPress, PLEASE resolve this issue ASAP.

Staff are working on the issue and bumping two threads on the issue to the top of the forum which results in other threads falling off the front page of the forum simply deprives other bloggers who have different issues that Volunteers can help with from receiving the help they need. :(

Also unable to add link in posts. Been trying for an hour now :-(((( I just dont get this blog off the ground. Blogger and Tumblr works so much easier and better. :-(
I’m on the latest Firefox.

Search results:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/can039t-add-links
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/blogs-i-follow
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/my-subscriptionsTwo workarounds that others have used with success are contained in those threads. Switching to Chrome worked for some. Entering links into the HTML editor rather than the visual editor worked for some.
Staff are well aware of the issue and are working to resolve it. They do not have time to monitor these threads and post “we are working on it” into them. Everything is backed up. If bloggers do not search and keep creating new thread and/or it we continue bumping this thread and the others to the top of the forum simply to commiserate about how annoyed we are then due to the limited space on the forum what we are actually doing is forcing the threads posted by others who have different issues that Volunteers can solve off the front page. That’s not a good thing and it’s beginning to concern me. :(

I had this problem 2 days ago, switched to Chrome and it worked yesterday. Back to not working today so obviously not the browser’s fault! What is going on?!

Yo uso Chrome siempre, porque aqui aunque tengo idioma español, muchas explicaciones salen
en ingles, y con Chrome me ayudo para traducirlo.
Por otra parte insertar un link o enlace al final de la entrada no funciona.

I tried switching to Chrome, and that didn’t fix it. Also, I try clicking on the HTML tab and nothing happens. I first noticed that something was weird when I saw that both the simple version of the posting & styling buttons and the ‘fancy’ version (icons) were on the top of my text box. I have tried Firefox, IE, Chrome, Opera and Safari on the Mac. No luck.
I hope they roll back whatever weird change they made pretty quickly. I guess I’m not posting to my blog today.

I would wait for several hours. No panic, engineers will be able to fix it soon. No worries.

I’m having the same problem as everyone else. I’m in Chrome and use only Chrome! It’s not a browser issue for me! And it’s also only a few hours old. The hyperlinks and visual/html windows worked before I imported the Tumblr plugin by mistake…

I am still not able to use links. I have IE8, have not made any changes to my computer, have not added any plugins, and still have had no ability to use links for about 5 days. I have tried to 3 different computers and all have the same problem. I also have no way to connect to the support as that also no long functions. When I hit the ‘help’ button a box opens a series of printed options appears for a split-second and then disappears, leaving me a blank box. When I try to post a link the insert link box opens but the link url once pasted then opens a “are you sure you want to leave this page” insert with the options of leave page or stay on page. Neither allows for the link to be posted.
I know staff support is working on this but I want to continue to impress the problems still exist. I have blogged for years and posted over 5,000 separate items and know this is not a problem at my end. Something happened at the WordPress end.
