CAn’t add photos

This is exactly the problem I had, so I reinstalled Flash like many people suggested and it works fine now.

-
I’ve just tested multiple times with Windows XP, Internet Explorer 6 and Flash 9.0.115.0. Uploads work fine — there are couple of visual glitches but these are cosmetic. So whatever the cause, it’s more specific than just IE6.
guerro, when the Add an Image box first pops up, is there one button that says “Choose files to upload”, or are there two buttons that say “Browse” and “Upload”?

i see the photo in media library and it says it’s in permaling in the page. let me check your other question …

I do not get an upload to editor either. How else can I insert the image in the body of the text without this. Please help!
This is really quite ridiculous.I don’t mind learning, but do not have the time to learn a whole new system, especially without instructions.
They have made this harder not easier. -
I was so happy to finally find a great blogging tool when I moved across to WordPress, but now I’m a breath away from shutting my blog and move elsewhere. Why did you people have to destroy such a great working tool? Now it’s just a mess and hardly anything is working, despite upgrading Flash etc.
-
I have to agree. Might be time to seek out another ”user-friendly” blog site. The problem is you get these tech people that really know their stuff screwing around with the system, and making it too complicated for the lay folks.
Many of us are not techies. We have blogs about the arts, music, editorial, opinions, crafts, or whatever. We like to visit out blogs each day, update them, interact, etc. When that becomes a big song and dance beyond our skill level it’s not fun anymore. I spent 8 hours yesterday trying to upload one stupid photo, and in the end came away empty-handed. And today, I can’t even get the pop-up media window to give me any information to choose from.
It appears I am paralyzed, shut out of my blog, which is my life-blood. I love wordpress. It is (was) so easy. Who could ask for more? But some braniac got the idea to make it even better, and pretty much turned it into a nightmare. I know with any change there are kinks to work out, and learning curves to overcome, and in the end it may prove to be an improvement. But as it stands, I feel 100% incapacitated, and really, really bummed.
I’ll leave my blogs up for the time being, but in all honesty, I need to start looking for other options. Like most folks, I have a life beyond blogging.
I love you wordpress, but I need simplicity.
I’m holding out hope these problems will get resolved. I have a thousand + hours in my blogs, and can’t even fathom recreating them from scratch.

The current problems are beyond tech savvy problems, they are real software bugs that neither of us users can do much about. If I could upload images (the Catch 22) I would show what my screens and popups look like when I try to upload images and use the widgets. They are unusable at the moment, at least on my system. I’m running IExplorer v6 and have updated Flash. It could be that my o/s is still Win98, whatever that should have to do with it? But even so, everything was working perfectly before this interface upgrade. I can’t enough emphasize how much I wish the support team would revert everything back to the way it was before. I blog several times a day and this is really not fun at all.
-
My OS is also Windows 98, and it could have to do with the fact that in some cases the latest versions of things won’t work well with our OS. I know the Java wouldn’t even let me update to the very latest version.
-
matildasfikarum – As long as you’re on an updating spree, you might also want to update to IE7. It gets along much better with wp than 6. (fwiw, I’m using 7 and not having the upload problem, but that does not necessarily mean it’s because of the browser. I suppose it could be just about anything, including a bug)
-
Which reminds me to switch to IE. Although my IE is 6 too. Worth a shot. It’s definitely not working in Firefox. I’d use Flickr if I had an account there; no problem at all hotlinking!
-
Maybe a Flickr account is worth setting up for glitchy moments. I have one at Photobucket, just in case.
-
ellaella – unfortunately IE7 doesn’t run on Win98, and I don’t think that’s the problem. We are running IE6 at work, on WinXP, and WordPress is JUST working there. The problem is, I can’t sit and blogg my way through my working day, I’ll get fired! Thanks for the suggestion about IE7 anyway.
If there were a parallell WordPress upload site, I could paste my screen dumps there for support to look at. I swear it’s not me hallucinating, the semi frozen screens I get are really weird.
-
Flickr doesn’t fix the widget problem, though. My text boxes only show half way and the other half is hidden behind the left column, in code writing mode.
-
What’s your screen resolution at? I just checked with IE6 on Win98 and I didn’t get the cutoff error. Mine is at 1152×864 at the moment.
-
After I suggested 7 I wondered if it could run on Win98. That stinks. I’m not a Microsoft basher, but it’s disappointing.
-
It’s 1024×768. Nah, I don’t think that has anything to do with it. It’s the layering of the interface. Maybe Win98 can’t interepret it or something.
